The staff were very kind and helpful-- they even let us store our bags in the office while we explored the area on Sunday after we checked out. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, and the location was very convenient.

Wonderful family-run hotel on the main street of the village, friendly, unpretentious, clean and well kept. Fairly quiet when I visited in July.

TheHotel Engelberg das Trail Hotel at Dorfstrasse 14 in Engelberg, Switzerland, is an exceptional place to stay. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed by a team that combines genuine warmth with a high level of professionalism. Every detail reflects care, and the atmosphere makes it easy to relax and enjoy your time in the mountains. A special thank you to Virginia, Laura, and Alex, who make every interaction effortless, enjoyable and informative. The wonderful owners, together with their lovely family dog, create a personal and inviting environment that truly stands out and almost makes you feel that you are part of this family. The restaurant is a highlight in its own right. The ladies running the service bring such a friendly and attentive energy, and the kitchen delivers outstanding quality. The cook prepares an unforgettable Buddha bowl, fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. It is a dish worth coming back for. This hotel delivers a complete experience defined by kindness, quality, and attention to detail. A truly memorable stay. We are planning to visit again. Thank you to the team at the Hotel Engelberg das Trail Hotel!

Very helpful people basic room and breakfast good value for the price

2/10 Poor

The hotel room was fine, but our experience with the restaurant was very disappointing. We went there for dinner during our two-day stay and were completely ignored while trying to get seated. Even after I asked if they had a table for two, no one acknowledged or helped us. We felt more like an inconvenience than guests, so we left and did not return. Basic hospitality was simply missing.

Best place to stay in Engelberg

Lovely service and neat and nice hotel that is perfectly located with walking distance to everything. Really good breakfast as well and Nadia and Tomas does that little extra to make the stay perfect. The hotel is not new, but it is clean, warm, have all you need and the beds are comfy. I now have a new favorite place to stay when I come back to Engelberg.

Everyone who works there was friendly and helpful. A short walk from the train station and we even walked to the Titlis lift (even though a shuttle runs to it).

The view is outstanding. The food, both for breakfast and for dining was excellent. However, the wifi was down for the entire 4 nights that I stayed there. I went to the Visitor Center for free wifi. They were waiting for parts where an electrical storm knocked it out. The staff was not friendly and welcoming. If I had a question I was always treated like I was inconveniencing them where everything I asked or did was wrong and my fault. So I just stayed away from the people that worked there and it was fine. The morning breakfast woman was fantastic.
