Beautiful hotel

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Very impressive and lots to do. All the staff were lovely too. Clean spacious family room. Got moved when we asked for a better view and the room was ideal. Good restaurants and a good atmosphere. Didn’t do the activities as Storm Amy arrived!! Would be lovely in the summer. Will definitely go back to stay.
Angela, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Room was clean with beautiful views and enough space for all 3 of us. Staff were very pleasant and helpful when questions were asked. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Had to ask for pancakes for my little one though and no chocolate sauce which she was disappointed in but didn’t ruin our breakfast experience. We used the pool which was great too. Kids pool was warmer than the big pool which was lovely.

Excellent place, but!

Reception was good, room was good apart from the view of the roof right outside the window. Liked the options for dining though never got the chance to enjoy it after the first late lunch on arrival. My wife was ill with food poisoning! I was ok but i had a different meal. She spent the rest of the day and night sick in bed. We asked if we could have a refund for the second night as I needed to take her home. The reception were great and were happy to refund. Unfortunately it hasnt happened. They did put £103.96 into our bank, but had already taken £100 for the card and purchases plus £47.46 for the lunch, then took another £147.46 from our card. We are now 7 days, the 100 and the 46 have now gone so all is square but no refund for the second night.

Went there for my daughter’s 9th birthday. The staff made a big deal about her while she was there and made it extra special for her, particularly Hannah in the Piccolo restaurant and Danielle in the Brasserie.

8/10 Very good

Hotel shows age, but overall is good.

Overall, we were pleased with the place. However, The room was not very clean. The floor was dirty had to be mopped. The chairs were old and dirty. We needed to have the window cracked open because it was very musty in the room. Also, We were very happy with the Receptionist Amita. The reason was that previous to talking to her about a lost item, we called the reception twice and spoke to them in person to find our lost item and rather than checking thoroughly, They simply said nothing was turned that fit the description of what we had lost. Amita on the other hand First told us there was nothing that she knew about, but She would check another place to make sure. After checking, she found our item. It was very essential in our traveling and we were very happy that she found it. We don’t understand why the other receptionists were not as thorough as she was, but at least we can give an excellent report for her. We are pleased with the breakfast, the only thing we might add is that it would be nice to have more vegan items with protein. The baked beans seemed to be the only item with protein, and we had the same food every day. if you stay one day, it’s OK but we stayed five days

Great hotel , with a lot to offer . The room was very comfortable if only a little small.

Lovely experience. Will definetly be back.
Lucy, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely venue for family holiday. Gorgeous rooms. Lovely staff. Piccolo restaurant is wonderful. Brasserie food is nice, perhaps menu coud be a bit more varied? Clean. Beds were so comfortable. Quiet at night. Lovely residents lounge. Fun arcades in Glen's Den. Adventure park about 20min walk or hotel train ride away. Adventure passes a little pricey at £15 each for adventure park but if you have wee ones who will play away for hours you can enjoy cuppa on Basecamp. Activity passes £35 but if you only want to do one activity you can't just pay that, so £35 seems a little expensive unless you are going to be doing lots of activities, then it is a great deal. Wonderful oveall. Would recommend.

10/10 for the Victorian Baths

The hotel was incredible and had a never ending list of activities to enjoy. The Victorian baths were the highlight of the trip! (Keep in mind they are an extra £25 per session)

Breakfast great Dinner terrible staff not very friendly or helpful
John, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Alright

Hotel was ok. Food menu was uninspired, made claims of using local ingredients which were dubious at best. Understand they have an ongoing major refurb so understandable that not everything is 100% but food, particularly breakfast was a big disappointment. In room, no water and empty mini bar (fridge on). No way to order breakfast to room but other guests appeared to have done so as there were empty trays outside late in to the afternoon. Will return after refurb is completed
James, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good value for money. Hotel only lacked a place for adults to quietly socialize in the evening eg a bar or lounge.
Richard, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Everything was good, apart from the food in the Terrace restaurant which was overpriced and not of the corresponding quality
George, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

It is a beautiful property, with friendly, chatty and interested staff. When we stayed there was lovely Christmas family experiences, lots of family groups, disco and games in the evening, Santa visited all very exciting. In the midst of this were several adult guests who seemed to be forgotten. Although there was an adults only bar.,....right beside the children's party. I adore children but had hoped to have a relaxing and calm pre Christmas break which didn't happen. It would have been nice if a comfortable quiet room was made available for those guests who stayed without children. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.
Shirley, 2-night trip

Food was not Great had Dinner and Breakfast was all over cooked
Janice, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The hotel has retained Victorian features which is nice. I felt the parkings could be improved by having a drive in and drive out system. At present, if all spaces are occupied, one has to reverse in order to get out.

To be honest, there were a lot of young families with children who were not always supervised.
