Great location in town. Room was quiet and warm. Easy walk across the road to the waterfront or round the corner to the mall and restaurants. Has plenty of character in the hotel. Rooms are not large, but they don't need to be. Main bar downstairs closed early on a Friday night, 9 pm, but the interconnecting Irish bar was still going. Car parking was easy enough in the street out front, but council do have cars with number plate readers patrolling and enforcing so make sure you pay from 8am.

We really enjoyed this place. It was very conveniently located, though alas has no onsite parking, and the staff are kind and helpful and there are plenty of them. The building is elegant, cozy and the bed was totally fine. It was great to have a bath (in the room type I selected). The bar and restaurant were very convenient. I do wish the food was less “standard NZ-European” though. Just so hard-normal. Would have loved some more adventurous food.

We ate in the downstairs restaurant called Bar K I believe. The food was very good and our server Asmita was very nice. She was also very prompt and always remembered our name and favourite ways to have our breakfast lunch and dinners. Very nice staff at the hotel front desk.
