I would happily go back and spend a week here. It is a beautiful and unique hotel and the attention to detail in the materials used and decoration were probably the best I have seen anywhere in the world. I can't say enough nice things about how wonderful this hotel is. I have read some other reviews and here's my take. This is really nitpicky feedback that is only meant to help take the hotel from a 9 to a 10. The staff are lovely. Seem to be a lot of local young people and it's clear some are new to the service industry but I think it's part of the charm. Ireland is full of friendly people who love to chat and this is reflected in the staff. Don't expect big city, big hotel type of service from everyone there. You will get great service but there might be a few people who are still a little green. The food in the hotel is better than the golf club. It's clearly not supposed to be the same but it could be a little better. Hamburgers are so easy to make from scratch - that is one example of something that could be better. But it's nice to have a place to get simple sandwiches or a scone. We loved the food in the Oyster Catcher. I like to eat things I can't make at home and the flavors in all the Japanese dishes we ate were complex and delicious. We also enjoyed chocolates and tea in the library. The shelves were in the way of the mirror - hard to do my hair.

New hotel. Potential. But everything painfully slow. Drinks 15 to 20 mins in bar. Even a glass of water. No mini bar in room. Or drink menu for room service. We drove to lidl in the town to stock up on condiments for room. Would recommend this process.. .. Hotel no where near worth the price. Stuffy, boring, slow.. But friendly and want to help. Sometimes over enthusiastic. But have no knowledge or training. Breakfast is tasty but slow..and staff have no knowledge, even what the selection of pastries meant. Staff are all young and that is admirable. But they need training and management.. They need to loosen up and be less formal..the service is not there and its uncomfortable having to wait and wonder did they just forget, every single dealing .? breakfast we were asked would we like a selection of toast? Whatever that is. But 25 mins later it arrived. Wine at meal took 15 minutes into meal to arrive. Coffee in room is a filter system without any instructions. Coffee is inside a tea bag. Bit you tear open this apparently .. All in all..very far from five star.. Maybe 2 star service. The fact that you are in middle of no where with such poor facilities and service. Leaves you trapped. They need to loosen up and have quick access to coffee and chocolate or sweets.. Maybe vending machines would work. They provide water and crisps in room. That's it. Forget about the bar service.. Go next door to golf bar and order at bar. Dont sit down and wait. We could not wait to leave.
