Hotel Tauraa ticks all of the boxes that make the stay on Easter Island something special. It is set in tropical gardens with Wolfgang, an amiable host who cooks up a superb breakfast every day. The rooms are spacious, clean and all amenities work well. It's not a modern hotel but it takes you back to a time when things were simple and good. It's only 30 metres from the main road so you have restaurants around the corner. A real joy to investigate the island.

Property location is good. Walkable to everything and also close to the airport too. The yard is beautiful and peaceful. Hotel makes good Breakfast everyday. Room cleanness is ok. Standard for this type of property. We found several Geckos in the room (I guess is common on the island) hotel owner brought us a spray, but doesn’t really keep Gekkos away. But thanks to the owner that trying to help us on this matter.

The standout, without question, was the chef-inspired breakfast each morning – beautifully presented, fresh, creative dishes that changed daily and tasted incredible Short stay, big smiles. Edith and Bill were wonderful hosts. They met us at the airport and took up back for our return flight. The breakfast provided is wonderful. The rooms are simple, comfortable and air condited with lovely verandas to sit out side and seating in a lovely outdoor lobby . When we were on the islandt.our plane was canceled creating chaos as almost all hotels in town were full. Despite being full Edith found a way to accommodate us speaking with other guests. I am.in my 60s, did not have camping gear so it would have been difficult for me to sleep all night outside or on the condrete as it is a very small airport. I am grateful for all they did for us during our stay and highly recommend this hotel, which is small and more like a very comfortable and veey welcoming homestay.

This hotel is definitely 5 star. Anybody who wants to visit Easter Island and get that off their bucket list should stay here. Edith, the owner/manager picked us up at the airport and checked us in and fed us free excellent breakfast every day. The rooms are nice, air conditioned with free wifi. the hotel is centrally located and you can walk to everything good in Hanga Roa. Our tour operator picked us up and took us to all the good stuff and dropped us off at the hotel...After our vacation was over Edith drove us back to the airport....our vacation could not have gone better and Tauraa hotel is inexpensive when compared to others in the area. Edith is also of native Rapa Nui ancestry and can answer any question you have about Easter Island. If you are planning on visiting Easter Island, you really do need to stay here and I don't review many places I have been to and when I do I'm usually posting bad things but there is nothing bad at all about Easter island, Tauraa Hotel or Edith...I highly recommend to everyone!!!

Dishonestly Overcharge

When booking From Hotels.com we got 20% off but this hotel won’t charge you until you checked out and charge you price not match the price you booked previously. breakfast $20 per person per day which will be charged as well when check out. Please make sure you were charged correctly when check out . Won’t recommend stay here since owner is not honest doing business. Room no shampoo and please bring your own personal shower gel and shampoo, shower room is very small, condition is bad overall . Internet way too too slow..
