Downtown Asheville
Downtown Asheville pulses with artistic energy where magnificent Art Deco buildings frame mountain views. The Grove Arcade buzzes with local artisans while street performers and drum circles bring Pritchard Park to life. Visitors can hop between craft breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, and unique shops that showcase Appalachian creativity. This walkable neighborhood makes exploration a breeze with most attractions within a few blocks. Boutique hotels in historic buildings provide stylish places to stay, while the ART bus connects you to anything beyond walking distance. When evening falls, live music venues keep the mountain magic going well into the night.

Biltmore Village
Adjacent to the Biltmore Estate entrance, this small village boasts the stunning Cathedral of All Souls and a lively commercial district with eclectic shops and restaurants.

River Arts District
River Arts District pulses with creative energy where artists transform former factories into living studios. Watch glassblowers shape molten masterpieces, potters spin clay, and painters capture mountain landscapes in real-time. The French Broad River provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor sculptures and riverside performances that showcase Asheville's artistic soul. Local breweries and eclectic eateries occupy industrial spaces, offering everything from food truck fare to farm-to-table cuisine. Studios and galleries are easily walkable, with paved paths connecting warehouses. Most visitors drive or use ride-sharing services since public transit is limited.

West Asheville
West Asheville pulses with quirky energy along Haywood Road, where converted warehouses house craft breweries, vintage shops, and art galleries. The neighborhood shows off its artistic soul through colorful murals and live music spilling from intimate venues. Thrift stores and record shops create a treasure-hunting atmosphere perfect for travelers seeking authentic local culture away from downtown crowds. Food options range from casual food trucks to farm-to-table bistros, all more affordable than downtown spots. Budget-friendly accommodations include boutique motels and guesthouses with artistic flair. Walking is ideal for exploration, with the French Broad River offering scenic trails for when you need a nature break.

Historic Montford
Historic Montford showcases beautifully preserved Victorian and Arts & Crafts homes along tree-lined streets. Travelers can admire architectural details while taking peaceful walks through this charming residential haven. The neighborhood hosts the Montford Park Players, North Carolina's longest-running Shakespeare festival at Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre. History buffs will appreciate Riverside Cemetery, the final resting place of notable literary figures. Most accommodations are in historic bed-and-breakfasts offering period furnishings and gourmet morning meals. Downtown Asheville is just a 15-minute walk away for dining and shopping options. The neighborhood's quiet atmosphere makes it perfect for travelers seeking authentic local character without the downtown bustle.

Blue Ridge Mountains frame every vista, offering hiking trails for all abilities just minutes from downtown. Downtown Inn and Suites
"I stay here when I come to Asheville. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is simply a safety concern. When I mentioned it at the front desk, there was some resistance and she didn’t seem to care.. but the concern is that the parking placard they give you to put in your windshield shows your room number, which is visible to the public and in your vehicle. I’m a security professional and would highly suggest that the hotel remove the room numbers and any personally identifying information on the parking passes. All other hotels document your license plate and store it privately in case they need to call you for a vehicle issue. Knuckleheads can easily target someone’s vehicle and then pairing it with their room number is going to cause an issue sooner or later. Also if someone is watching the vehicle leave, it would indicate that the room is likely empty and potentially making it a target for burglarizing. Additionally, you can tell if someone has kids (car seat in back) and target that. All around it’s just not a good idea and it poses a safety concern to me. When I brought it up to the front desk and scratched out the room number on the parking pass, she said to at least write my full name on the parking pass instead, which is a horrible idea as well. You should never voluntarily offer more information than necessary. I don’t think the hotel is being intentionally negligent here, I’m just hypervigilant because it’s the type of work that I do."

"Love staying here. Super convenient."
Lantern Lodge Asheville Biltmore Village
"The location of the hotel was great! The staff was very friendly and professional. They were all extremely friendly. The room was exactly what we needed. Overall, it was a perfect selection for us. The only two disappointments were: (1) the safe didn’t work. (I'm sure it was only needing batteries.) and (2) the on-site restaurant wasn’t available. Otherwise, it was excellent. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here when coming to Asheville!"

"everything was great"
Brookstone Lodge near Biltmore Village, an Ascend Collection Hotel
"It was a nice hotel overall. The coffee in the lobby was a bit disappointing. My shower was slightly broken (room 318) but not enough to complain. When I pulled the little thingy to make water come out of the shower head, some of it still came out of the bottom faucet. The location was nice--right off the freeway and kinda nice area."
Renaissance Asheville Downtown Hotel
"Nice hotel with a great lobby bar and restaurant. Enjoyed the valet and not worry about parking. The Continental breakfast could have been better for the price. Glad I got the vouchers when I booked the room. Not worth the $20 is paid at the restaurant."
