The hotel staff and Mexican food at this hotel were wonderful! It's very walkable and just a couple blocks from the cathedral of Santa Domingo. The toliet in room 4 did not flush well. We stayed at Hotel Azul for nine nights and absolutely loved it. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautiful—tastefully designed with a peaceful courtyard and charming details throughout. The location is just about perfect. It’s a quick five-minute walk to the Zócalo, so everything is easily accessible, but it’s also tucked away on a quieter street. Even during Guelaguetza, we had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep. The included breakfast was very good—fresh, well-prepared, and a nice option to have. That said, we didn’t take advantage of it as often as we could have, mostly because we were eager to explore the incredible food scene in Oaxaca. All in all, Hotel Azul was the perfect base camp for exploring one of the most interesting and vibrant cities I’ve ever visited. We’d absolutely stay here again.

The only negative is that the rooms are a little dark. The lighting is poor. The rooms don’t have open windows. They have blinds that give you some light from the center courtyard but it’s really not enough light.
