Beautiful location and ambience

It was absolutely amazing to have our holiday there. Will definitely return

8/10 Very good

Cheery welcome. Efficient staff. Didn’t realise the Spa was a short walk through car park & not on site. A sense of faded glory about hotel - lacking atmosphere with older clientele. Spa full of kids & businessmen. Probably would not choose to stay again for high price of room.

8/10 Very good

Friendly, clean, nice surroundings but a lot of rubbish on the sides of the road, it's a pity that no-one has improved the surroundings, comfortable rooms The staff was good but not above average. The adjoining ‘spa’ is not recommended, very unhygienic

Great room and service. The breakfast needs to be at least warm, most items cold. Difficult to enjoy cold scrambled eggs.

Great hotel, spa facilities not 100%

We had a great stay at Bannatyne. My only issue was that the outside jacuzzi wasn’t very hot and the jets weren’t working. On the morning the sauna was out of action so it was a real shame.

Not my usual choice for a weekend in Hastings, but I’ll be back next summer. The gardens are beautiful and a lovely place to sit with a gin before dinner or a latte with the papers on a Sunday morning. The restaurant is very good and excellent value. There’s lots of choice for breakfast, all for the standard price, and the orange juice tasted like the real thing - i.e. not from concentrate. I’m not sure about the 1980s pop music in the dining room but other guests were clearly enjoying it. It’s the first overnight stay I’ve ever had in Hastings with no issue parking and that’s a huge bonus.

Great grounds and setting. Room was clean but decor tired and needed attention. Room was very hot, fan provided but not noisy and not very effective. Breakfast was average buffet style, nothing special. There is an additional charge if you want to order breakfast items from the menu which was disappointing. Service was very good.

Could be a gem - but they need to add Service

Unfortunately the staff could care less that guests are there. Actually they are begrudging that you are paying to stay. Attitude to the max. Because they were short housekeepers they just left towels on the floor at your door! TVs didn’t work. It was a true disappointment! Cannot recommend.

This hotel is gorgeous! Food was delicious! Highly recommend. We had been traveling for 3 weeks in the UK and France. This was the only hotel to provide luggage racks! And not just one, but two! As a senior, having to sit on the floor to locate things in my suitcase each day is not easy. This simple addition was much appreciated. Finally, a facecloth! Two would have been better for two people but I was happy to have one at all. I don’t understand why they are considered a personal item in Europe. Having to travel with a wet facecloth is quite inconvenient and rather ridiculous to this Canadian. So this too, was a very appreciated item.

nice place... but get rid of the dogs

pleasant stay, out of hastings , we were there one night. If you want the town itself, then this is not the place to go. Room still hot in late summer, but that's fairly std for uk hotels, they rarely have air cond. it would have been quiet but there are dogs being kept nearby (perhaps the strange british predilection for taking ones dog on holiday to hotels and pubs????). the dogs need to be moved. if you're unfortunate to be at that end of hotel, you can't open the window for air due to whining and barking hounds. Otherwise a pleasant stay... only one night.

4/10 Fair

The hotel was quiet as it was just before Christmas, but for the price we paid there were too many bits and pieces that weren’t right. Good points: the king size bed was huge and very comfortable, and the staff at breakfast were excellent. Not so good points: we were the last in the bar, and the guy from reception came in to talk to the lady behind the bar very loudly about inappropriate stuff, including swearing. I’m no prude but there should be a code of behaviour when guests are present. We knew the pool was closed for maintenance but we were told the spa closed at eight, when we got there it changed to half past seven. The phone was broken in our room, too. The hotel is in a nice quiet location with large grounds, and the room was big and comfortable, with a smart bathroom. There isn’t a huge choice of hotels in Hastings, so this is recommended if you’re searching.

2/10 Poor

Expected much better given the reviews.

Reception: Great first impressions. Lovely reception area/lounge. Superficially looks really nice but all kinds of wrong in the room. Room 6: 1. Noisy room from road traffic. No secondary glazing. Noise started at 05:45am approx (Monday morning) The earplugs offered (clue!) on the details page would have helped but weren’t in the room. 2. Blackout curtains but too much light leakage around them. 3. Small flies circling the light didn’t create a great first impression! 4. Spiders living in corner of room. 5. Room had a creaky floor on a decline towards bathroom. I could hear other rooms creaking too! 6. Not a practical room. Only useful space for anything was a chair! 7. Tight to walk around the end of the bed and miss the tv on the wall! 8. The shower had pink mould in the lower to mid sections. Bleach would have cleaned it most likely. 9. Top of bed well presented but the bedsheet had black marks on it when I turned down the bed. I had to sleep on top of the duvet to avoid contact with it not knowing what it was. White bed sheets should only ever be white and not any other colour! I’m really not sure how this place received so many good reviews. Maybe all the other rooms are much better?! The lack of attention to important detail was sad. I had booked two nights but due to lack of sleep I rebooked my second night elsewhere. The breakfast was very good. The owner was understanding of the issues and didn’t charge me for the night.
Blackout curtains very leaky.
Pink mould in the shower.
Black marks on the bed sheet.
Spiders living in the corner.

Great hotel. Convenient location

Great hotel. Best od the summer. Breakfast good. Beds good. Excellent shower. Only issue was no air con and if it was a hot day then it may have been uncomfortable im the room. Beautiful grounds.

Hotel tired. Waited 10 minutes for buffet breakfast to be replaced as lady said they had too many pre orders in? Had to ask 3 times for milk and towels as nobody told us on check in that you have to put a sign out to get your room cleaned etc. been 4 times before always fab this time not so good

Lovely Romantic stay

We enjoyed our stay at Bannatyne spa hotel. The executive double room was spacious and relaxing with a queen sized bed. The spa/leasure facilitates were very good. Just a shame we had to pay extra for that.

Nice break

Very friendly staff, nice room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was also good, especially the pancakes.

6/10 Good

I found the lady in the lounge bar rude. I asked it there was any chicken wings and instead of saying no like most customer service friendly people would she was rude. I paid for executive room, it smelt of dog so had to be moved, the room we when got was half the size and not value for money atall, it was more of a basic room but was told it was executive. The spa and changing facilities are in urgent need of a refurb. There should also be cleaning carried out whilst people are using it.
