The house is stunning and the hostess, Christy, is amazing! We were unable to have breakfast at 9:00 (we were staying for work not pleasure), and Christy provided us a quick continental breakfast. She was wonderful!!! Our room (Blakemore #7) was beautiful and comfortable. The only thing that needs improvement is the water pressure in the shower.

Victorian Charm with Southern Hospitality

Overall a great experience. The room was large and beautifully furnished with antiques. The owner Frank was a fixture at breakfast and offered tips on local sites as well as the history of the manor. We’ll definitely return for a visit when we head back to Va Tech to visit our daughter.

This property is gorgeous! Frank met us at the door and we were checked in in no time. Our room was huge and had everything we needed. Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast was served at 9 a.m., but if we're ever back in this area we would definitely stay here again. Lots of common areas and a beautiful wraparound porch from which to enjoy a pretty sunset or an early morning cup of coffee.

We loved our stay. The house is beautiful and the owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Chrissy made us an excellent breakfast! It is out in the country side and so peaceful. We saw a deer walk right by the house as we enjoyed our wine on the front porch rocking chairs. It was the highlight of our vacation. My husband especially enjoyed the architecture of this historic house.

Rockwood Manor is a beautiful bed-and-breakfast chocked full of history and family memorabilia. our room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The public areas were replete with antiques, maps and books all charting the rich family history. Our hosts were friendly and more than happy to share the history of the house and family. We stayed for the Purdue vs. Va Tech football game. Blacksburg was an easy 30 minute drive. A perfect location if you want to get away from the game-weekend crowds.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rockwood Manor. When traveling, we look for out of the ordinary places to stay, places with character, history, beauty... This wonderful place has it all. Our room was spacious, clean, charming, and had a beautiful view. Our bathroom was just around the corner in the hall, but was just ours so it really wasn't a problem. Robes were provided, too, which was thoughtful. In the evening we played games in the beautiful sitting room downstairs and just imagined the people and conversations those walls have witnessed. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and meeting the hosts a bonus. By all means, don't pass this up. We'd come back in a heartbeat given the chance!

Beautiful property! Gorgeous room and bathroom was substantial for the age of the home. Morning view was so pretty with the mist over the area. There is a substantial front yard with grass and trees. Gives a plantation feel. Front porch is a great place to relax in the evenings with plenty of seating and rockers. Breakfast was really good, well prepared, and plenty. The manager was in contact via text before we arrived with easy to follow instructions. Only con is a drive to get food for lunch and/or dinner but for the beauty of the property, it isn’t a bother. Our room was upstairs so we did lug our luggage but after sitting all day with travel, this wasn’t a problem. I believe they have some ground floor rooms if you’d rather avoid stairs. Bed was comfortable. Room clean and tastefully decorated. Room had a key for entry. Easy after hours arrival instructions, including getting the key to our room. Felt safe and secure the whole time. Would definitely stay again!

I booked this room a couple months ago. Apparently the property changed hands since then and many of the amenities that were listed when I booked were no longer honored, such as a "3 course gourmet breakfast" and an "evening social with appetizers", No notice was given that we would be staying there during renovations (noisy, dusty, etc.) and that the amenities were no longer offered (even though they were still listed on their website). The place was a little dingy and just overall not really how the website made it out to be. I did speak (in a very friendly tone and tenor) to the new owner who was extremely nice and apologetic - which was good. The problem is, the said he would be giving me a little bit of a discount and agreed that the condition were not ideal, how ever I just got my receipt and there was no discount given. I would have left a better review had the owner lived up to what he said he would do. Hopefully it is improved after the renovations are completed, but I would not recommend staying here unless you confirm you are getting what you are paying for and that the rennovations are completed.
