Casa Lahusen is a historical property that has been remodeled to be a hotel. It is beautiful and it location is perfect. The hotel is close to the peer, with wonderful views of the bay. Additionally, it is within walking distance of the old town as well as shopping. Brenda took great care of me. She helped me with my bags and made sure I had anything I needed. The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars is because it has no elevator. It was hard to climb two flights of stairs (it felt more like three flights at times) with the luggage and even without the luggage. Other than that, it was the perfect place to stay at.

The hotel is small and intimate. As the house is a renovated historic one it can be noisy as doors have automatic locks and the sound insulation is poor. Staff are helpful and the hotel’s position in the old time is a good one.

Awesome location in the historic part of the city. Shops and dinning options all around. Close to the water. The hotel is an old colonial house that has been completely modernized. It’s beautiful. Had a great stay here! Absolutely loved the hotel. There’s a rooftop patio where you can sit and relax. Everything in the town is walkable from the hotel. The rooms were really nicely decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast had an assortment of fruit, breads/pastries, and meats and cheeses. Most of the tourists only do day trips, so it’s nice to spend an evening strolling around town when it’s less busy. All in all a great stay and would definitely return!

Very noisy...clean and good design...but no rest.

We paid full price for a standard room. Checkin was fast, lobby looked great. We were taken to our room, #4, which was literally right next to the lobby front desk. Our room had vintage double pane door with glass. Room looked great and very clean. The problem is that door is the only window/door and it is looks straight into the lobby. In the morning we were woken up by the noise of the lobby.

The house is an historic mansion that has been modernized but kept all the charm of the past. The ceilings in the lobby are at least 15 feet high! Our room was big and had huge windows on both sides, which was beautiful. A suggestion to the management: put blackout shades on the window side that gets the morning sun. It gets light early in summer. The location is very convenient being in the historic area. There are loads of good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Some tips: the streets are paved with cobblestone and the sidewalks rough, so pulling luggage from the bus station or ferry terminal can be challenging. It can also be noisy at night with music and shows located nearby. They provide a free shuttle to a sister property that has a pool, winery, and restaurant. We spent a hot afternoon there lounging by the pool. Shoutout to Paulo, who speaks excellent English, for arranging our taxi and visit to Finca del Sacramento.

I would probably still book the same hotel, the only 2 downsides of my stay were the weak internet/wifi connection, and the soundproofing of the room, while being aware soundproofing an heritage building can be challenging if not impossible without altering the charm.

Beautiful historic building with renovated rooms with a minimalist style combining heritage and modernity. Keycode access to the room is very convenient,. Breakfast was nice - abundant options in a tranquil dining room. Still and sparkling water, coffee and fruit are available at all hours. Pity the wine machine in the library and the rooftop bar weren't operating. But I recommend Vinoteca de la Colonia around the corner for a wine tasting. I would suggest adding somewhere to hang the hand towel closer to the sink, and a sofa to relax on (the room has space for it).
