We booked for the views for our stay, and it was worth it! Especially waking up and having breakfast overlooking the ocean... breathtaking! We loved our stay, the only thing I would mention is that since the inn is within the community college campus, parking is limited and fills up fast, so just be aware of that when driving through.

We had a great time staying at the McKernan Inn! The location was perfect. Only 10 minutes to Fort Williams Park or really any other activity in the area. We loved the spacious room. It was clean and well appointed. We didn’t get to eat breakfast in the nice room with the fantastic view due to another event going on but they made up for it by bringing breakfast to our room. We liked the history of the building and that it is run by students. One thing I will mention is the building is not very well marked. Put the actual address in your GPS and not the name and it should take you right to it. I would 100% recommend staying here.

The Suite we stayed in was roomy and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the view was great! The furniture seemed older and worn, including a torn chair in the hallway. The breakfast is very basic (K cup coffee, instant oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and some pastries). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the student staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was the perfect getaway for us to visit Maine. Location was perfect and had so much to offer in the city. Quiet and Peaceful. We had the suite which was perfect. Definitely try McKernan In out. Staff were all super friendly and helpful for dinner recommendations, bars or things to do.

Pros - historic and beautiful building. Stunning ocean view and lighthouses. Rich breakfast with pastries, yogurt, and fruits. Run by the community college students (helps them gain hospitality experience), with free parking. Cons: rooms are outdated and not well-maintained. We paid extra for an ocean view, but it was only a partial view across a parking lot. The room was sometimes too cold, with no option to adjust the temperature. Small bath towels that get moist very quickly. To summarize, it's a nice hotel in a college campus, but we felt it was overpriced for what we got.

What a gorgeous property and very pleasant stay! Thank you to the entire team for the immaculate, unique setting. We felt welcomed the moment we arrived, enjoyed the sunrise from the huge windows overlooking the water, and the delicious continental breakfast. The location overlooks a lovely beach and walking path and we enjoyed the serenity and delicious dining in South Portland as well as the convenience to Old Port. We would definitely return and have mentioned the inn to friends. Thanks again!

Beachfront old building labelled "Hospitality" has the best view I have ever seen for breakfast. Watch seals and fishing boats pass by while eating (included with room) continental breakfast freshly prepared just for you. Super private, clean, and well maintained. Feels historic, beach and walking path outside front door. Campus location, has campus security and feels very safe. Kids loved playing on the oceanfront. Makes good base for seeing Portland, but is located in South Portland. Check out the lighthouses!
