Friendly staff, amazing onsen, and the Japanese-style room was beautiful. It’s a little far from everything, but if you’re willing to take the bus, the stop is right in front making it super convenient. Such a peaceful, relaxing stay. Would definitely come back.

The hotel was beautiful, The room with futon were big and nice. The onsen was nice. The staff was nice, initially, untill they lied to us by telling us they would send our luggage to our next hotel, and it would get there late the same day. It didn't. When I asked they said the person in charge of that wasn't there, that it was normal to take up ton2-3 days (which is probably true, but they should have told us so we could have made an informed decision) we ended up in a different city with no clothes pijamas, toiletries, etc for a day and a half) they did not offer any compensation

We loved our stay at YuYu Onsen hotel. The staff were extremely polite and hospitable. Thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese breakfast experience and recommend you try it. The booking comes with a 50 min private onsen experience which was thoroughly enjoyable in the evening after a busy day of site seeing. The location even though feels remote and away from shops and amenities (we had no car) is served by bus service ( look up the J number buses). They will drop you right in front of YuYu onsen. I booked based on price and had reservations about how isolated this location was but I need not have worried. The remote location and the surrounding woods only enhanced our experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone planning on visiting Hakone and once again I’m thankful to all the staff that made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. ❤️

This was a no frills, older hotel with nothing around but it was well maintained and clean and the staff was very friendly & helpful and spoke some English. There is a toilet & sink in the room but no tub or shower--you need to go downstairs for the shower and onsen but it's for your own private use (reserve your time to use at the front desk). The bus stop is in front of the hotel but only runs twice every hour. Within a 13-minute walk is the ropeway at Ubako which will take you down to Lake Ashinoko area where you can catch the pirate ship. Having the Hakone Freepass is highly recommended as you can use it many times on the ropeway and pirate ship as well as the Tozan buses. It also gives you discounts at various tourist attractions.

Highly recommend this hotel. We stayed two nights and booked 2 slots for our private hot spring bath. We want to comeback to Japan for this reason alone. Staff was extremely friendly and it was an awesome experience.
