Fantastic stop at Wheyrigg, first night of 2 weeks away and couldn’t have asked for a better start. The team were extremely friendly and helpful and the Boddingtons was top notch

Over all the stay was very good although one of the waitress's manners left much to be desired.Maybe training in politeness would be beneficial for her.

This will be my third visit here over the past three years as I visit one of my customers nearby. It is impeccably run in every way. Breakfast cooked to order. Evening meals outstanding. Especially the steak pie. The best pie I have ever had and I travel a lot.

I understand that they only took over the property 5 weeks ago. So to be fair you cannot expect everything to be right as they said that they gave a lot of work to do. As we were the only people there and we only paid £100 for the room. We were told that they have updated a couple of the rooms. But we would not be offered one of those rooms. I understand that to a point but surely for the sake of future recommendations putting us in one of those rooms would have been a better business idea for them. The room we had was large but the carpet was stained the wall had damp the bathroom had a shower curtain so long it would trip you. The lady serving the breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately the egg was raw over the top but the rest of the food was good. I do wish them luck with their renovation as it's a lovely old building I expect their under pressure but please make your customers feel welcome and do everything to make it a nice experience as they are the mouth and ears of your success. We liked everything about this hotel: the staff were friendly and welcoming; the breakfast was good; the room was spacious, clean & comfortable, and everything in it worked (toilet, shower, TV, etc.). We also liked the old-style features in the room (wooden beams on the ceiling, stone wall, etc.) as they gave it character.

Stayed for a couple of nights while working in the area and can't really fault it. Food great and room comfortable if a little bit dated. Good shower with plenty of hot water!

Lovely staff, very accommodating throughout our stay. Lovely food and accommodated 2 late guests who arrived just as kitchen was closing. Nice quiet sleep even though there was a party going on at the time. Would recommend staying and will definitely return

Quite a big place. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Evening meal was classic pub grub but really good quality and good portions. Wifi was good. Shower was good and everywhere was lovely and clean. I'd be happy to stay here anytime.

Nice comfortable room with good WiFi connection. Food was excellent and served quickly. The steak pie was the best I have ever had anywhere. Top marks yo the kitchen. This is my second visit here and my previous visit was just as good. Plenty of parking and very friendly staff. Hot breakfast cooked to order. The best I've ever had. Recommended.

Just over 30 mins from keswick in a quiet location, excellent hosts ,amazing food .i love thats its not a new updated place gives it more character. I didnt have a good night sleep but that was due to upstairs neighbours .that was only down side and was a shame it was only a one night stay.

When we arrived we were welcomed. The two girls were very friendly and helpful when we arrived. Shame about the lady on the morning I checked out. She pointed out loudly that Expedia had made an error with our booking and that i owed more money. I said if it's an error on Expedias part maybe it should be taken up with them. The ladies didn't pass comment or highlight this on arrival,in fact both were friendly and very helpful. It was very unprofessional the morning we left and didn't appreciate the way it was delivered in front of others around. I won't be returning for this reason, I left feeling very upset .

On arrival the hotel looked in poor condition. The room decorations are very dated. The room smelt damp and I noticed the central heating was in, which is presume is to try and dry it out. The bathroom was also very dated with mould on the sealer and an old bath mat. Breakfast was disappointing, as I was not asked what I wanted so it was served with black pudding and a hash brown which I did not want. The only cereal was cornflakes with no choice of milk. The fried egg was over cooked. Then I asked did I want toast, to which I replied I would prefer it after the breakfast with a cup of tea. I waited, and waited and eventually left. I would not recommend it or stay again.
