Great big suite right in old town.
Bad stuff; Two things to be aware of … our shower was in the bath which is a jakuzi with a huge edge that was really tricky to clamber over to get in and out. Second, parking is round the corner, you have to bring your cases to the hotel on foot, (not so easy) and parking is expensive, €30 per 24hrs, discounted to €22 for Avli guests.
Good stuff; the staff are fabulous, all of them. The hotel fine dining restaurant is very good indeed, we ate here twice in 3 nights in Rethymno. Stelios and colleagues are impressively knowledgeable on Cretan wines and food pairing. £150 for two for 3 courses each, 3 glasses of wine each and coffee.
Things to do; the fortress is a must (€5, suggest trainers too), drive out to Akardi Monastery.
We think we will return with friends.
