Overall, we’d rate the Moxy Madison Downtown 3/5.
The location is excellent—easy walking distance to the Capitol, restaurants, and coffee shops. The atmosphere is also a strong point, with a stylish bar, vintage video games, trivia night, and nice touches like free gummy bears and a “stash closet” on each floor with extra towels, toothpaste, razors, and other essentials. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
Our balcony suite had a fantastic Capitol view and a huge outdoor space, but the room itself did not feel worth the price. It was one large open space with little separation, no coffee maker, and limited in-room amenities.
Our biggest complaints were the motion-sensor lights and noise. The lights would come on at night just from getting up to use the bathroom—and sometimes even while we were still in bed. Soundproofing was also poor. Loud vehicles and train horns woke us multiple nights, including around 2:00 and 4:00 a.m.
Cleanliness was excellent, but the fitness room was very basic, and we expected more wellness amenities for the price.
Special mention to Jamie in valet, who was outstanding—fast, attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with doors or bags.
We would not stay again, mainly because of the noise, lighting, and overall cost-to-benefit ratio.
