Excellent stay in a very comfortable, friendly B&B

Perla del Sole is a small, friendly B&B, though with a hotel-style reception, in the resort of Arenella, 8km from Syracuse. The hotel manager (who spoke excellent English) greeted us warmly and provided plenty of helpful information, such as maps, local restaurants, transport information, etc. The rooms were comfortable with all the essentials, including air conditioning (definitely needed at night, as it stays hot after sundown in Sicily) and free wi-fi, and were well cleaned daily. Continental breakfast, part self-service, part served by a member of staff called Carmen (who, though not speaking English, was still very helpful and friendly), was plentiful and served on an attractive balcony with views of the sea (the beach is just a two-minute walk away).The hotel was also secure with a locked gate, and had a garden and outdoor shower (handy for removing the sand after visiting the beach). A minute's walk away was a fruit and vegetable stall, which also sold water and soft drinks, and a cafe selling soft and alcoholic drinks, pastries, ice cream and pizza. Restaurants are further afield - we had a hire car and in under 10 minutes could easily reach nice waterfront restaurants with views across the bay to Syracuse and, beyond, Mt Etna (even though it's 100km away!). The hotel provided a good base for exploring the southeast Sicilian coast, the ancient city of Syracuse/Ortygia, and places further afield like Ragusa, though you will need a car. Very relaxing and recommended.

Greit og rimelig bosted. Beliggenhet rett ved strand og restaurant, buss til Siracusa rett utenfor. Koselig uteområde og fin balkong. Enkel frokost servert hver dag. Vi fikk tilbud om rengjøring første dagen og takket da nei, de kom ingen andre dager og vi måtte derfor hente håndklær og dopapir selv.. Kaldt vann i dusjen 2/5 dager. Måtte hente nøkkel på et annet hotell noe som var negativt, men de holdt på å ordne nøkkelboks.

Arrivati in struttura ci ha accolto Anna una simpatica e disponibile signora che ci ha offerto subito qualcosa di fresco! La camera pulita confortevole, con uno spazio esterno di vero relax, tavolo e sedie, divano e poltrone. L'esterno è bello c'è uno spazio esterno all'ombra con tavolo e sedie, una doccia dove sciacquarsi dalla sabbia e dal sale del mare. La colazione molto assortita e abbondante. Esperienza positivissima, ci torneremo volentieri 😊❤️ a due passi dal mare🤩

Struttura davvero carina confortevole personale gentilissimo insomma tutto eccellente.. unico neo: al momento della prenotazione avevo esplicitamente chiesto al proprietario se la spiaggia fosse sabbiosa e mi era stato risposto vagamente "si certo". Penso che fosse stato corretto dire che vi era stara l'alta marea che aveva ridotto notevolmente la spiaggia e quindi prevalevano le rocce. Questa cosa mi ha rammaricato molto anche perché avevo prenotato per terze persone

Lovely B&B close to the beach

Only stayed one night here, but I imagine it would be lovely for a longer beach vacation. Basic but very clean rooms, breakfast served on a terrace from which you can see the sea, located literally across the street from a beach, albeit a small one, and within easy driving distance of other beaches. Also within easy day-trip distance of some of the beautiful baroque towns of the region (Siracusa, Ragusa, Noto, Scicli, etc.).
