Very convenient access to Texas State University and walking distance to the square. We stayed here to move our daughter into her dorm room and it was a nice stay. We didnāt find the double bed room until check out morning because we thought it was one of the āsecure privacyā rooms to another unit. We made due with the upstairs bedroom but it was kinda hot upstairs. Parking for Unit B was good to our needs. Fit two SUVās easy.
Overall we will be back to staycation here to visit our daughter. The historic building was well preserved in itās natural beauty with creating a 3 unit housing complex.
Place was great but no hot water when arrived, but all in all they reimbursed me part of my money for not having hot water, definitely would book again! I loved the spot!
We had the spacious Drawing Room, complete with a full kitchen and sitting room. Looking out our window we saw three deer resting in the strip of trees behind the property, wonderful to see since youāre in the middle of town. Only negative: hot and cold settings are reversed in the shower so I got the cold shower and my husband was smart enough to figure it out. Beautiful, unusual property and convenient location.
We enjoyed how they renovated an historic church. Nicely done. There are also alot of eaterys in walking distance. You do have to gather the linings and clean up before you leave. Although this may be normal for this sort of place. Also, there is a lot of road noise as it faces the road. Its also worth noteing, the instructions/check in are done through messaging. It wasn't a problem. just know before you go.
Nice place. Note that the sleeper couch is only a single size. No problem for me, but would be an issue if you intended to use it for two people. Having said that, it was the most comfortable sleeper couch Iāve ever used.
My daughter and I spent one night here before touring TXST. We were very impressed with the architecture and Interior design! The place was very clean, temperature was well controlled and really overall positive!
Only thing that was a little bit weird was the door that connected to someone else's closet (we put the chest in fron of it), and that the house wasn't lit up from the outside so it was a little bit challenging to see from the street in the dark , in the rain. Overall- Lovely!!!!! We are likely to come again with more family members! The bed was so comfy- I slept much better than I normally do in hotels!
Just know if you book same day you may not receive your check-in code before arrival. My daughter had been released from the ER after an asthma attack and needed a room. I booked early afternoon, with check-in at 4. She arrived at 6pm and waited outside until 7:05 before getting the check-in code. I called the number listed numerous times with no answer and spent 40 minutes online with Hotels.com trying to get it resolved. I finally received a call from someone at Downtown Abbey and simply received an "I'm sorry. I've been away from the phone." It was an unacceptable response. Hotels.com told me codes could take up to 24 hours to receive, even with same day bookings but admitted it was not posted on the site. I didn't ask for a full refund, but I did request some compensation for the terrible service and no notice codes were not guaranteed by check-in. That was refused. After using Hotels.com for years, this is the first problem and I am very disappointed in their response.
My accommodation was in an old church. There are two rooms arranged in the form of a house and two king beds. everything was clean enough. hot water and heating were good and trouble-free. if I come again, I will rent the same place again. it is considered in the center of the city, you have all kinds of possibilities within walking distance.
A/C was broken, kept kicking on but turned off after a 1 minute for that reason I got less then an hour of sleep that night in 89 degree temperatures. Even debated just driving home to Houston at 3 am.
Comforter in left room had a big stain. Had to sleep in my clothes and cover with my jacket. I didnāt see it until we came back for the day and there was no contact information.
Great stay! Walking distance from Texas State University and the town square. Historical landmark..Cute place! Beautifully furnished and comfortable bedding. In a lively neighborhood, so expect some traffic noise. Overall great stay and plan to stay again in the spring.
This was a super cute place however, it would have been nice to have coffee or some kind of lite breakfast. Also had a constant issue with someone parking in my assigned spot and i was forced to park and walk in the dark in unfamiliar area. Message sent to management went UNANSWERED. Not likely to return.
