The grounds are not well kept and the hotel was clean but eclectic. I couldn’t have breakfast as service doesn’t start until 8am which maybe fine if you are on holiday but not if you start work at 8.30. I had an evening meal and their set cost meals are £29.95 which sounds reasonable until use find out all sides are £5 each so potatoes £5, peas £5, water, yep £5. It could be such a lovely place but was a let down.

The entrance is tricky to spot but it makes feel really private, which I loved. The whole set up was really atmospheric and beautiful. However, check in was really slow and had to be done by my phone, the receptionist didn't think to offer me the WiFi, plus the lighting in there made it very difficult to read everything. And, there are alot of additional rules, compared to other hotels so make sure you check these. The included breakfast had loads of supplementary charges, we paid an additional £18 be be able to have 1 cooked breakfast and an orange juice. Also there was only 1 pot of coffee! However, it was beautifully prepared and really delicious. The chap who served us was really lovely. At check out the receptionist mis-gendered a guest, which was awful to watch. Thankful the guest was very gracious about it. They put a £100 hold on a card with the promise that it's removed in 3 days, I'm still waiting for it to bd removed, 5 days later.

When I visited the property was being rennovated and therefore covered in scaffolding. The inside was still excellent as was the food (of course) but the outside was compromised - however this was reflected in the discounted price. I would like to go back when the scaffold is down and the work completed.

Arrived at 2pm, early and thought we'd have a coffee while waiting for the 3pm check in. Hotel was closed. Went back at 3:10pm and booked in. The reception looks like a animal hanging room/victorian lavatory and is dimly lit. Checked in okay and given a free upgrade to a room in the main hotel. No shower, bed was too short for me - i'm 6'2 and the foot board was against my feet, no tv, hot as hell and the toilet would flush so i asked to be downgraded back to my original room. TV, working shower and toilet. old dirty hessian matting in the room, but the bed was big and comfortable. Fire door outside my room had a closer that just slammed shut with a loud bang everytime someone came in. Had the please of listening to the lovemaking of the couple nearby and him using the toilet as the walls are paper thin. Cancelled dinner as the restaurant is covered in dead animal horns and went in Corsham. Parking was good though, if you can find the entrance. I've post no pictures as i couldn't be bothered to take any. It could be so nice but is in desperate need of cash injection and some tlc. Such a shame.

There are some very up and down reviews out on the Rudloe arms. However my advice would be ignore them this place is excellent almost unbelievable value. The main building is quirky comfortable and the service is friendly and professional. It’s only 10 minutes into bath so a great base for a city break.

Multiple attempts to contact the property (phone/email/website) went unanswered when querying check in time. Even the booking agent couldn't raise anyone from the property. We ended up arriving at 5.45pm, only to be told that the receptionist had left early. It then fell on the 2 x waitstaff to try and find our rooms - which weren't part of the manor but some distance from the hotel. After a couple of attempts, walking around outside - they eventually found our room. Property consisted of a small double bed where the mattress sagged in the middle & the pillows also were saggy. It had 1 x desk but no chair, so a coffee table had to be used as a chair. Our breakfast had been pre-paid, however, they charge $4.30, p.p, per day, cover charge & if you would like a juice with your breakfast - this is an additional $10.60 p.p. No cappuccino, hot chocolate or tea selection was available. We had dinner one evening, where again, an auto cover fee was applied. On the morning, after check-in, we went to find the receptionist to see if there was anything we needed to do for check-in. We communicated the difficulties that we had in contacting the property. This concern was dismissed by the receptionist with the comment 'we don't have a phone & you should have contacted us via website'. She didn't respond when we explained, that we had done this. They ended up charging our credit card, without approval, for accom. that was pre-paid. Hotels.com had to intervene on our behalf.

Checked into the rudloe for a work trip and after an immensely stressful day. The lady on reception was incredibly rude and unhelpful, I was told I had to have a physical card to check in, which I didn’t get told before hand, I asked if they can use the card I paid with and was told no. I then had a £100 hold charge put onto my account and was told it was standard in “nice” hotels, after travelling for 6 years with work I’ve never had such a unhelpful check in. I had tried to call the hotel before arrival to see if they had irons, a phone number but the phone line just hangs up on you turns out they don’t have irons at all in the hotel not even one at reception, which would’ve been fine if I could’ve spoke to somebody confirmed beforehand. The building itself is beautiful but I was put into an outbuilding which was run down to say the least, scrapes up the wall, looks tatty. Hardly any parking. Bed was squeaky and not that comfortable. Blinds were broken in the room. Also looked down the back of some furniture and the room had obviously not had a deep clean in a long while. Also, there was no carpet in the room but an uncomfortable woven wood type flooring?? The only upside to this hotel in my opinion was Big TV, the shower and the pillows. I will not be returning.
