The Metropole Hotel and Spa is a really nice place. The owners and all the staff are wonderful. Rather than being located on Bahnhofstrasse, which is the very noisy, very crowded main street of Zermatt, it's located a couple of blocks away, on the river, where it's much quieter, yet still only a 7-8 minute walk to the train station and less than that to the Cathedral, Matterhorn museum, and Town Hall. I booked a single room with a twin bed. The room was smaller than I usually prefer, but cleverly designed so it didn't feel cramped. The included breakfast was fantastic with lots of options, including ordering eggs cooked any way you like them. Maybe best of all is the view from the dining room and outdoor deck - the floor-to-ceiling windows provide a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. They also have some nice amenities such s a swimming pool, sauna, and a free shuttle to pick you up at the train station. Finally, I thought the price was attractive, especially for everything they offer, and compared with other properties in town.

Stephanie at the front desk was outstanding. She helped me with finding medical assistance, recommendations for restaurants and basic room inquiries. The hotel is an awesome location and the spa amenities were very relaxing with a view of the Matterhorn (breakfast as well). Glad we chose to stay there!

We spent 3 nights here in October and really enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and spacious, the breakfast was great with an excellent variety of hot and cold food, and the hotel was in a good location within walking distance to everything. But most importantly, the staff were fantastic! You felt as though you were staying with family. Would highly recommend and definately stay here again!

Wonderful hotel with friendly staff.

We loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and remembered who you were. The facilities were excellent and we used the pool and spa every day. The views were simply stunning from our balcony and from the pool area. Breakfast was very good, plenty of options, including some freshly cooked to order options. We were even gifted some local cheese when we left. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely hotel in Zermatt.

Staff were very warm and friendly, even gave me some cheese to take with me when I left! Generous breakfast. Best of all - an empty pool with a view of the Matterhorn, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna - all impeccably clean. Room very reasonably priced for a single traveller- first time I have had a single trundle bed so as not to waste room size-very practical. Everything I needed.
