Lara and Lorenzo are ideally suited to run a B&B. They are friendly, caring and eager to provide excellent service. Lorenzo greeted us at check-in and spent a good chunk of time orienting us to the property and providing us with a map of Florence, including a comprehensive list of the opening/closing times of churches, museums, and other historical sites in the city.
On alternating days, they prepared breakfast paninis for us. A table of yogurts, breads, fruit, snacks and granola offered lots of choice. Two cappuccinos each day for my wife got her motor running in preparation for our days exploring Firenze. They engaged in lively conversation with all occupants and made us feel at home. The elevator alone is worth checking out.
The B&B is only a couple of minutes walk from the T2 tram which takes you to the rail station and onward into the city. Not many restaurants in the area - go to the center of the city for much more selection, but MAKE RESERVATIONS.
If you're looking for a very central and comfortable place to recharge after checking out Florence, Il Grillo di Firenze is the place for you. Many thanks to Lara and Lorenzo for making us feel welcome and giving us some lasting memories.
