The Hotel Palace is stuck in the fifties, but it is in a great location, it is clean, the staff is very attentive and the breakfast is good (with amazing cakes freshly bakes on premises every morning). There are very few modern amenities but clean rooms, excellent location and great price… who cares about modern amenities (there is a lift and there are televisions in the room). There are rumours of renovation, which will change the price and the amenities, although I hope they will keep some of the amazing original woodwork in the breakfast room and the sitting rooms at the entrance

The location was great only 5 min walk from Piazza Maggiore, and lots of amenities nearby. Staff were helpful. My room was clean, but the carpets in the main common areas look like they are the same age as the building. That would be my only criticism. Otherwise, for the price it was a pretty basic hotel that did the job.

Very quirky suite with lovely paintings adorning the walls. Floors were a bit creaky in that you could hear people upstairs, but, you get used to it. Ideal location as only a 5 minute stroll from the Piazza Majiore and all the adjacent bars and restaurants.

This hotel is extremely well located in the Old Town and ideal for a few days in Bologna . The hotel is old fashioned but elegant , and the rooms are small but functional . The staff were very helpful and answered all our queries in excellent English . The breakfast was very good and included in the price. Very good value for money and would stay here again.

This hotel was older, but had old charm with a revolving door and big sitting room and friendly staff. Location was less than 2 minute walk to Neptune fountain square so very central to restaurants, markets, shopping, site seeing. We arrived by train and had about 20 minute walk. Some things you should know: our twin beds in Room 107 were uncomfortable- felt like old box springs poking me from the 1960s. After second night, I took off sheets to look at mattress and it had small fastener (like end of a shoelace) and that may have been what caused my discomfort. I told staff on check-out and they said they would have housekeeping check it out. Unfortunately, Room 107 was also very noisy (outside). No window panes, so noise just came on in. There was a large protest that ended up with violence and injuries so that night was miserable with the noise and helicopters etc. Suggest if stay here, ask for room with window to front side of hotel perhaps.

RUN!!! The floors looked like the original carpets from the 1800's... and not in a good way. The 1970s called and they want their decor and furniture back. The beds were thin box spring mattresses on what looked like a camp bed. My back!!! I couldn't tell if the room was clean because the carpet was so disgusting. There was zero a/c and the lady at the front desk told me that 'standard' rooms on the 3rd floor didn't get a/c. Then she gave me a lecture on how it wasn't even that hot out. I did get a fan. I am a woman travelling alone and the guy at the front desk loudly announced my room number twice, as he handed me a key in a lobby area full of people. They were sold out, so i couldn't get a new room. The good things: 1. the sheets were curiously wonderful- starched, ironed and luxurious. 2. The bathroom was immaculate. 2. They allowed me to store my e-bike in their garage free of charge.

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times before and it's fantastic for its location and price, but man, they really need to sort out the air-conditioning situation. They gave me a desk fan, which wasn't really up to the task, and sleeping in these conditions was not pleasant. I'm not sure if I'll stay there again as the prospect of putting up with another summer of 37/38 degree heat in one of these rooms is not a tempting one. The hotel is a bit old and shabby and needs a proper overhaul. The creaking floorboards are incredibly loud when people are walking up and down the corridors. The staff were very nice. Special mention to Antonella on reception, who was lovely and helpful.

The hotel is conveniently located in the old town, also not far from Bologna Centrale station. It is very old. The carpet is so dirty. The first night I stayed in a room with no air-conditioning. Outside temperature was 37C.They provided a small fan and I couldn't sleep at all. The second night I managed to change to an air conditioning room. But the room is very small and no window. The air-conditioning barely keeps the room cooler. I am surprised that Hotels. Com recommend this hotel.
