Hotel La Colonna is a lovely hotel with a pool set in gardens but it’s the location that is a problem. It is set on a main through road on the outskirts of Siena. You will have to bus or taxi into the centre. Buses don’t run at night. We did eat at a lovely family run Italian pizza restaurant close by and there are a few other eateries but you are limited. The receptionist Alexandra (?) was so lovely and informative and seemed to work in all areas. There are not many staff here. Overall, however, we did enjoy our stay.

On Bus #54 - to and from the centre off Siena, the hotel was very convenient for our 21 night stay. We also visited Tuscany with both public buses and trains, all being very easy to connect with from this hotel. This is a 3 star hotel, but in that category it is one of the VERY BEST. We enjoyed the two restaurants within the immediate vicinity. As Canadians we will recommend the hotel to our fellow travellers to Siena.

The bus is literally 20 steps away, takes you straight up to piazza Indipendenza. There’s also a quick grocery right there. The pool looked amazing and just as advertised, everything was very clean and nice.

The bus stop (to take you up to the old town of Sienna) was literally two minutes from the hotel. There is information on the bus stop telling you when your bus is due. so you can go and wait in the hotel. (very scary exciting ride up and back to the town. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed. Shower (inside bath) very cleverly designed. Breakfast acceptable very helpful staff. Over all enjoyed our stay at interesting Siena. Pat and Ellert Meyer

Très bon séjour à cet hôtel. Personnel charmant. Bon petit déjeuner. Chambre spacieuse. L’environnement est calme. Seul bémol : pas de micro-onde dans l’hôtel. Il n’est donc pas possible de réchauffer un plat ou un biberon, c’est dommage.

Abbiamo passato 2 notti in occasione dell'assegnazione dei cavalli del palio. La nostra era spaziosa, silenziosa, con un letto matrimoniale comodo e un lettino singolo per il bimbo. Era disponibile il frigobar e la TV con accesso a youtube. Il bagno era ampio, ma c'era la vasca da bagno che è apparsa un pò scivolosa, bisogna prestare attenzione. In generale comunque ben pulita e ordinata. Meravigliosa la piscina che abbiamo utilizzato diverse ore, come altezza va da 1.20 m a circa 1.70 m. Poichè l'ingresso dà direttamente sulla strada principale dove le macchine viaggiano a velocità sostenute, si consiglia di mettere un protezione in ferro almeno davanti alla hall. Non abbiamo usufruito della colazione.

Hadde tre netter ved La Colonna i Siena. Vi valgte hotellet da de var rimelig i forhold til hotellene i sentrum, samt at vi hadde ønske om enkel parkering med bil. De ansatte (både resepsjonisten og renhold) var hyggelig og serviceinnstilt. Det er mulig å parkere på hotellets private parkering for 7 euro per døgn. Det ligger en offentlig gratis parkering rett ved hotellet, men der er man ikke garantet plass. Spasertur på ca 25 minutter til byen, for de som ikke ønsker å gå er det mulig å ta buss. Frokosten var god og dekket behovet vårt, men ingen kulinarisk opplevelse. Hotellet bærer preg av å være veldig gammelt og slitt, både på innsiden og utsiden. Rommet vi fikk tildelt var romslig, men baderommet var smalt, trangt og dårlig planlagt. Når vi dusjet rant det vann utover på gulvet på grunn av sprekken mellom gulv og dusjdør. Det var i tillegg trangt å komme seg inn og ut av dusjen, og trangt generelt dersom man er flere på badet samtidig. Håndkletørker på badet fungerte ikke, selv om vi sjekket at den var på. Hele hotellet (også rommet) luktet sterkt av såpe/parfyme, som gjorde at vi måtte lufte rommet hele dagen uten at lukten forsvant. Det er også lytt mellom rommene. Vi våknet av alarmen til naborommet, og hørte godt når gjester kom og gikk i korridoren. Etter å ha overnattet ved La Colonna vil jeg si at plasseringen for de med bil er bra, men jeg ville ikke ha overnattet igjen før hotellet er renovert og modernisert etter dagens standard.

Séjour d’une nuit, piscine agréable, chambres qui mériteraient un petit coup de rénovation, mais tout était propre. Hôtel bien situé pour visiter Sienne, à moins de 10min du centre mais au calme. Attention, une route passante devant l’hôtel, veiller à demander une chambre de l’autre côté. Petit déjeuner diversifié. Expérience agréable pour une nuit.
