Beware - it's clear from other reviews and my own experience that this hotel habitually overbooks guests. They then claim that the guest or booking site cancelled the reservation. This seems to occur most often with foreign (European) guests. I was moved to another hotel with whom they have an 'agreement' for one night and then back to the Medina. It's a major inconvenience, because they just don't realise how much trouble and wasted time this causes. Local tour guides clearly get better treatment - hence their reviews are naturally more positive. Note also that the Yasmin restaurant is now closed - and the staff don't seem to care much. Clearly, things have deteriorated badly over the last few years. There's no bar service by the pool as such - no one seems interested in providing much service at all to be honest, and that goes for the reception staff. Everything just seems to be too much trouble for them. The bedrooms are fine. Plenty big enough, with decent air conditioning, and view over the pool (though clearly not all rooms do, and some reviews indicate dirty rooms). My room and bathroom were very clean, so can't complain about that. Best aspect was breakfast: lots of choice of hot and cold dishes, fruit, cheese, ham, eggs, national dishes etc. Note, that the location is just ok; Registan is actually about a 30 minute walk away. There are few places to eat close by apart from a couple of poor Indian restaurants. There are much better hotels closer to the real centre.

6/10 Good

The staff was very willing and welcoming. My room left a lot to be desired. There are stains on the wall (??) bathroom door does not close, missing glass. The property needs a deep cleaning. It is in a prime location. If only the staff pays attention to cleanliness and update torn curtains, scent in rooms etc.
