The hotel itself has a charming, old-world character, but its location is considerably less convenient than one might expect, with most of Rome’s major landmarks too far away to reach comfortably on foot. In hindsight, I would recommend choosing a hotel closer to the historic center, even if it means compromising on room size or facilities.
The hotel’s location near the boundary of the Aurelian Walls can also create an unexpected inconvenience. Although Rome’s fixed airport taxi fare of €55 applies to destinations within the Aurelian Walls, some taxi drivers argued upon arrival that this hotel falls on the boundary and therefore charged the metered fare instead. This is worth bearing in mind when planning your transfer.
While most of the staff were friendly and helpful, the male staff member on duty from the morning through the early afternoon made our check-in experience rather unpleasant. First impressions matter, particularly after a long journey, and unfortunately, his manner did not reflect the level of hospitality one would hope for from a hotel with such a traditional character.
Overall, while the hotel has its charm, I would prioritize a more central location and a consistently welcoming guest experience when choosing accommodation in Rome.
