Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, country charm. It's not frilly or fancy, it is calm and relaxing!

Cozy, clean old style place with gorgeous view of the mountains.

Small, quaint family owned hotel with personal service. There are many special touches like nice flower pots, rustic furniture, and more. It is very quiet and clean. They offer a free EV station.

4/10 Fair

1950's retro

The Dunsmuir Lodge was left over from the 1950's... could be called quaint, I guess. The room was very small, but with a massive King bed that took up all the space. The rest of the furnishings were Donation quality, except for the large fridge. There were no plugs except for one hanging down the wall by the fridge. No plugs in bathroom, no hair dryer, no space to move around. However, it was clean. Charged WAY to much for what you get.

6/10 Good

The a/c unit was so loud couldn’t sleep with it on or hear the tv. The bathroom fixtures were outdated and the shower made a loud noise when turning on the hot water. The area at night was very quiet except when the neighbor blasted their tv (probably because of the a/c unit). Too many flying bugs in the room which were attracted to the lights.
1-night trip

2/10 Poor

The gentleman at the front desk was very nice while checking in. That’s the only reason why I gave more than 1 star for the staff. We got the double room number 12 for the family. When we first checked into our room we noticed at least 50 ants crawling all over our toilet. Not including the ones on the wall in the bathroom, or the ones around the room. We quickly brought this to staff and the gentleman said ants must have crawled into the room when they left the front door open while washing dog urine that was in up front of the room. (I say bs!!) They were coming in from the cracks on the walls and elsewhere. We left for a few hours. When we returned, we noticed the staff left a can of ant spray on the toilet along with a rag to I guess wipe up and kill more ants. Looked like they did kill some of the ants. There was ants crawling on that rag and more that we found in the bathroom. We again brought this up to the staff and said this was unacceptable. We’re leavin. We wanted a refund. The guy said all he could do was refund only one of the two days and he’d talk to his boss about the other. So far we haven’t seen anything We never stayed more than 20 minutes in our room. I can’t believe management would thinkthis acceptable for a family to stay in. The pictures online look better than reality. We had some sketchy people staring at us sitting outside of their rooms drinking and smoking cigarettes. The front office is old, dirty, and not presentable. Take your money elsewhere.

Save your back

While the outside looks nice and the staff at the front desk were good, I would not recommend staying here unless you want to get zero sleep and hurt for days after. You would be better of sleeping on the floor then the bed. Very outdated but was somewhat clean.

The room was clean and the bed was lovely. The view around the back is impressive, and there is a place to sit. Staff were very communicative prior to our arrival. All good and would stay again.

Mixed feelings

The Wifi service is spotty and they only offee streaming services which dropped often. Also, front office is only staffed until 5pm and a majority of the restaurants close by 8 in the area.

Dunsmuir Lodge meets your needs!

Dunsmuir is a beautiful spot and a great place to step back in time. The motel was a bit dated but had everything needed for a short stay. Front desk attendant was friendly and helpful. Surrounding were beautiful with back of the motel having sweeping vistas of the forested hills. We enjoyed our time and had a peaceful night's sleep

The property was very cute but needs a lot of work with cleaning up the yards and roofs. The roses and flowers were beautiful.
