This resort is in an ideal place with all rooms having an ocean view. The shipwreck hut bar and restaurant on site is a great bonus. The staff on site were excellent. The rooms and some of the site facilities could so with a bit of an upgrade but overall it was an excellent place to stay and the cost was very reasonable. We would definately stay there again in the future.

The staff were so lovely and the resort was beautiful. In such a great location and it was right on such an amazing beach to swim and snorkel in. The villas were perfect and all the snorkelling equipment, paddle boarding and kayaks were awesome to use. The brekky and restaurant was also so delicious and had a great view. It was such a great resort, I highly recommend!!

Staff were very welcoming and it felt like you were staying with family. The bar (Shipwreck Hut) was awesome with a lot of hilariously posters dotted all around the walls and ceiling. If your idea of a great holiday is being at the bar all day and listening to beats at the beach this place would be good for you, but if you are looking for relaxing or an adults only environment go somewhere else. This is best described as a well attended family bar with some accommodation attached. Expect music to play from late morning to 9 pm which can be heard through the rooms even with the doors closed. Its particularly loud when they have a band (several nights a week) - don't expect to be able to watch TV or read a book in your room on those nights loud. A lot of people and families come in for the bar all day everyday which is in the middle of everything. This is a good location to do activities on the west coast and is on the bus route. Snorkeling off the beach is reasonable. There are several food options a short walk away and a grocery store about 10 min walk south on the main road. The food on site is very nice but not always filling, you will need to order early (e.g by 5:30pm as there are often large crowds and long lines to order food at the bar). The rooms have full kitchen through.

I had a great 7-day experience at Aroa Beachside Resort. My accommodation had a full-size fridge, cooking stove, microwave, front porch, and anything that one would need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was basic, but got the job done. The grounds are well-groomed and beach just wonderful. I walked it every day...quiet & peaceful. I like watching the lightning-fast Tropical Crabs, which are exclusive to the Cook Islands. Shipwreck Bar, overlooking the ocean, is a great place to have a drink and something to eat while watching the never-ending waves crashing onto the reef. The Fire/Dance Show, free to guests, is absolutely the best on the island. There's a convenience store just a short walk down the road or along the beach that has a lot to offer, including hand-dipped ice cream. Beside the store is Asian Delight restaurant, which has excellent food at a very favorable price. Oh, and if you like hiking, Raemaru Track trailhead is just down the road. I hiked it twice! All the around, you can't go wrong with Aroa Beachside Resort!
