Despite the building’s age and few quirky things like the lift we thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay. Well maintained, comfortable beds and large room. Food was delicious , very good value and beautifully presented. Lovely to have ‘linens’ in the dining room.

We were transferred to a partner hotel, The Crescent in Buxton due to maintenance work at The Old Hall Hotel. This review is for The Crescent Hotel. Couldn’t fault the hotel, staff extremely pleasant and helpful, service was excellent. The room was wonderful, comfortable bed and both a bath and shower in the en suite. We had a very very enjoyable stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety and dining room overlooked the park. We stayed for two nights and would stay again. Buxton very nice place.

A lovely old place to stay if you're looking for something different from a Premier inn for a change. Parking available outside the hotel for a reasonable £6/24hrs. Room was a good size and clean, great shower, and a hearty breakfast. Location in central Buxton was perfect.

Beautiful old hotel. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Ideally situated right in the centre.

Very historic hotel in the heart of Buxton. Mary Queen of Scots stayed there and they have memorabilia to commemorate that which was really interesting. As the hotel is so old, the floors are very creaky, but we had an excellent night’s sleep and the breakfast was good. Clean bathroom. Would stay again.

This was an excellent Last minute find. Everything I needed, kitchen, bathroom and a clean modern room.

The Hotel is quirky & very interesting due to the history of the building. Very clean but tired, when staff were around they were helpful. Well situated for all Buxton has to offer especially Opera House, Pavilion Gardens & restaurants. We live about 13 miles away and would always choose to stay at the Old Hall overnight when visiting the Opera House. Have stayed in various rooms and the beds have always been extremely comfortable. The breakfasts are ok but the hot food could do with being hotter! All things considered value for money.

The room was clean well presented room temperature spot on the staff as always were very helpful and friendly I ate a evening and lunch time meal both were excellent. My only issue is the lift that has a gulitine style door and if the door is not closed the lift will not operate which a bit of a pain to be fair the staff do sort but overall I would recommend the Old Hall Hotel

6/10 Good

Pleasant old fashioned, traditional hotel in an absolutely perfect location. Although it’s been a hotel since Renaissance times, it feels more like a hotel from the 1970s rather from the 1570s. There’s a few remnants from Mary Queen of Scott’s visits but it’s not a significant theme. Quality of food in the restaurant - both breakfast and evening meals is both excellent and excellent value for money.

We had an excellent stay, for an old hotel it was very well looked after. Staff were super friendly and the breakfast was good. Excellent position in the town. Will stay again.

6/10 Good

Very old building, lots of history and fascinating detail, but my room smelt of mold, the door was soggy at the bottom, bathroom fixtures were broken, and getting around was difficult due to things beyond the hotel's control, lots of uneven steps, wonky floors, heavy doors etc. Beautiful with friendly staff is a gorgeous area.

Very dated rooms but I suppose that's the main thing this Hotel is offering. Sweet erappers left in wardrobe and very dusty behind bed ledge. Breakfast was lovely and staff very attentive.

Historic place to stay in the centre of Buxton, very handy for all the sights, bars and restaurants. Room was fine and very comfortable. Public areas a little tired but that didn't detract from our stay. Excellent breakfast.
