We have stayed at Engø Gård before and have always associated it with a peaceful, relaxing stay. Unfortunately, this visit was rather different.
The pool area was excellent and dinner at Brasserie Nina was very good. However, our night was disturbed by a large group of guests using the Brasserie’s outdoor area as a private party, with loud music continuing well past midnight.
I tried calling the Brasserie after midnight, but there was only an answering service directing me to a duty number, which also went unanswered. At around 01:00 I eventually had to get dressed and find a member of the kitchen staff so they could ask the group to turn the music off. While the music stopped, the group remained outside making noise until around 01:40. While other guests’ behaviour cannot always be controlled, I would expect a hotel of this standard to manage its facilities and respond promptly to disturbances, particularly at a property marketed as a relaxing spa destination.
There was plenty to enjoy, but the lack of sleep unfortunately overshadowed the stay.
