Perfect location in Trondheim. Excellent breakfast. Non-functional aircondition in the room, and broken (moveable) fan, combined with no possibility to open the window was not good. Very warm in the room:( Nora in the reception and also in the bar was supernice and friendly. A working airconditioning or any possibility to lower the temperature in the room would give high-score.

Good insight features.

This exceeded our expectations. We stayed here 2 nights towards the end of a fairly long trip on our way to Bodø and were a bit tired. We were delighted to discover that our stay included a buffet breakfast, an afternoon Fika—coffee/tea and a sweet baked treat—and a modest dinner buffet. Very relaxing to just wander down to the lobby at meal times. There is a small mall with a food court connected to the hotel as well. The staff were lovely. The room was spacious with a view into the atrium of the concert hall next door. There is a single self-serve washer and dryer available. Reasonably well located. Full marks for the shower, the floor of which was nicely textured negating any fear of slipping. We would like to urge this property and all the others to include in their design of the curb, separating the bathroom from the hall, some eye-catching design or decoration to alert weary travelers to it to avoid unpleasant and potentially dangerous tripping incidents. Like all the hotels we stayed in on our trip in the Netherlands and Norway, the arrangement of having duvet/comforter to sleep under meant we were too hot at night. Adjusting the thermostat did not seem to help. However the room was supplied with two electric fans which did help as I removing the comforter from it’s cover and using that as our top cover.

Everything was exactly as expected for a normal city hotel. Clean, friendly, good breakfast, good location, nice lobby, well planned bathroom. The room was better than expected, it was a very large family room with three beds. All the beds were great, soft and plushy with great pillows. The room also had a sofa, two lounge chairs and a desk. The hotel served a complimentary dinner which we enjoyed, since we were too tired to go out again after a day's touristing. The food was good (but not amazing) with several salads, a hot soup, bread, fish sticks with potatoes. All together we can definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel does not have working AC, as is advertised on their website. I’m not exaggerating when I say our room was literally at 75-80F. Asked to be moved to a different room with a working AC and none had working AC. Then ended up putting us in a smaller room than what we paid for that had an exterior window that barely cracked. What’s even more weird is the hottest it got for outside temperature during our stay was 65F. I would not recommend staying here. Staff weren’t super helpful.

This is an excellent hotel by all measures. The location is perfect for Trondheim tourism and the music scene. The reception staff could are terrific. They had so many helpful tips for getting around Trondheim and where to eat and drink. The breakfast and dinner buffet are very good (and given the prices of restaurants in Norway, a real money saver). My room had a wonderful view of the city.

We just came back from our week stay at the grand Olav. We had a great time. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The breakfast was the best as was the dinner. We enjoyed the coffee machine anytime we wanted some it was there to use. I was worried about not having AC. Being from Texas, USA in August- we need AC. But the room was comfortable with the portable fans they provided. We would definitely stay here again!!
