Great location, especially if you have a rental car like we did. Definitely recommend exploring the gardens at Palácio de Cristal, 2 blocks from the hotel. Really appreciate the staff (Rita) help in getting a room quickly. Parking was easy and breakfast was great! Especially appreciated the Maracujá juice and pastel de nata. Appreciated the Staff and their help in providing local map and recommendations. So many great restaurants to choose from. It is a good hike to the old town and back.

The best thing about hotel Oporto is the location for the price. I got a fabulous view of the Sao Joao festival fireworks. The room was bare bones but clean. The whole hotel seemed more empty and weird like The Shining. I think it must fill for conferences. The staff and breakfast were fine.

This is a wonderful hotel! The staff were quite welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, offering direction, recommendations and arranging for transportation for us. The location is fantastic - ocean and bridge views from the room and an easy walk to the central area, yet off the beaten path, so very quiet. Breakfast was included, and with outstanding options. We had an early departure for the airport for our return trip, so they even packed take-away breakfasts for us! Our sincere thanks to the Vilar Oporto - I would highly recommend this hotel!

it was a huge old hotel. the common areas were very spacious. the hotel is nicely located, and you can walk to the historic center. there is also a nearby park that is popular with lots of birds.
