Heaven on earth. Absolutely unique and amazing stay. From the welcome sightings of the stork nests to the view of beautiful horses calmly standing by the lake I fell in love with the environment. Our check in was fun and very enjoyable. Perhaps the welcome wine glass made the experience that more enjoyable. Great friendly staff that gave a great overview of what the Herdade had to offer. Regret only spending one night but we can’t wait to go back and take full advantage of all that we missed this time. We stayed in the “Casa de preda” and had our own private little pool and unobstructed view of the wineries and landscape. The little details of the embroidered linens with the Herdade logo and all the food and drinks that welcomed us in our beautiful contemporary house was superb. The amenities were top notch and all the Baobab candles made the place smell so good. The music playing in the background when we arrived to the room so cool. So all senses were taken care of and an instant calm and relaxation ensued.
The restaurant was awesome as well. The food and wine were outstanding. The “egg rice pudding” was the most beautiful and delicious dessert I have ever had. Love the family story and I got the coffee table book of “Malhadinha , The heart of Alentejo” on display in my living room in California to reminisce of such wonderful and magical place. Having been born in Alentejo , this Herdade encompasses the spirit and essence of this cultural rich area in Portugal.
