We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge, though the drive to it, once off the main highway is one twsty and winding and uphill climb, to be sure. I have driven many roads in mountainous areas in other locations and this one was the most demanding of any of them, in other countries and mountain ranges. The room was great for us and parking was nearby, making it easy to unload, head out for our plans for each day, and load back up, when it was time to head out. We especially enjoyed the garden areas designed to attract a variety of birds, but espeically hummingbirds. We also found the nearby Batsú Gardens a treasure of a find for an even greater variety of birds, due to more variety of habitats they have created, especially if you are patient and observant. We had a couple of dinners on site also, one in the main restaurant and one in the bar/lounge and both were good and reasonably priced. If we make it back into this area, this lodge would certainly be a great option.

Savegre was unbelievable. Their attention to every detail exceeded all of our expectations. Their staff was very kind and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. We also did the 4 hour quetzal/birding tour which was great. I would definitely return to this spot. One tip for travelers, it was cold so be prepared!

This is a lovely property. I had been there several years ago and loved it, but it's been refreshed and updated since then and is now even better. Hummingbirds, right at my doorstep! Hummingbird garden Appreciative I had been upgraded by Alamo with a 4 x 4, taking me to the top of the mountain. I am in decent shape. I preferred walking the paths at the top of the mountain having ridden to those trail heads. This includes parking at the top and walking down to the overlook platform beautiful fuse So much cooler 10 to 15° perfect hiking weather never above 70°F and contrast with my days by the coast not humid not hot Bug spray would’ve been nice part for stormed with mosquitoes on the parts not at all Enjoy the location as well. Enjoyed and appreciated many other places to eat and walk within a few minutes drive

Fantastic rooms and grounds. Great for birding. Nice restaurant and bar. Breakfast was included and was a very good buffet. Main road to get to location is a bit rough, but no 4x4 needed. Make sure to have a full tank because there is no gas station close by.

The hotel is very well kept as the surroundings. The food selection is very good and the prices are fair. There are a lot of activities for guests such as bird watching, hiking trails, horseback riding. There is also a Spa that offers diverse services. Excellent place to relax by the River Savegre. Perfect experience. Room , the gardens, the serenity, the service, the restaurant. Absolutely worth the visit. They arranged a Quetzal viewing tour which was very successful. The public road down to the hotel is ok but needs to be driven carefully.

The drive to get to the hotel (5 miles) is very difficult. Took us 30 min for 5 miles. Great breakfast and happy hour. Staff are very friendly and even help us look for quetzals in their garden. We are lucky to see this beautiful quetzal twice in their property.

Nature at its best

My stay was great but sadly one day rainy almost all the time. But we enjoyed watching quetzals very early and walking in the woods even though was raining.
