Wonderful stay with outstanding hosts

This property is lovely with the most gracious hosts. Ginette and Ross went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful time. Rooms were extremely comfortable and breakfast was incredible. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return.

A personal and welcoming touch.

A quaint heritage home nestled into the historical town of midland. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The hosts, Ross and Ginette were cordial, friendly and made you feel very welcomed in their home. The breakfast was delicious and tastefully presented. Highly recommended for any traveler vacationing or traveling through the area.

Excellent hospitality

Our hosts, Ginette and Ross made our stay in Midland a highlight. They are genuinely interested in their guests! We shared 2 evenings sitting on the veranda, sipping wine and sharing travel stories! Breakfasts were excellent…..tasty and artistically presented! Overall, a great place to stay.

This is a unique stately old home with original beautiful wood staircases ,floors and window design maintained. it is in a convenient location in the heart of Midland with easy walking or driving distance to local attractions. the owners were delightful as were the guests. breakfasts were simple yet elegant plus delicious . we hope to stay here again when we are in the area.

Ross and Ginette are very nice and very accommodating. They both cooked hearty, healthy and delicious breakfast for us to start our days. The breakfast was with beautiful presentations served in a “looks like century” dinning room with beautiful decors. We were treated as we were in a fine dining restaurant. The bed is very comfortable. Love the accents in their house throughout. We really enjoyed our stay with them and it was a very memorable experience for us.

A Hidden Gem in Midland! The Captain’s House B&B is a beautiful blend of elegance and comfort. The hosts are warm and personable, and the breakfast is outstanding—fresh fruit and yogurt, homemade bread and jam, and a delicious omelet served in a skillet. The home is filled with antique charm, original art, and luxurious touches like high-quality towels, a deep soaking tub, and a great mattress with plenty of pillows. The gardens are lush and peaceful, and every detail reflects the owners’ love for hospitality. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed seeing all of the original art throughout the house. Experiencing this along with the artists being our host was a bonus. Jeanette and Ross were very friendly and welcoming. We were surprised that it was a shared bathroom and with four other guests in the house, it was a bit inconvenient but we all managed and had nice conversation at breakfast. The breakfast was well prepared and delicious. All-in-all, a very pleasant and relaxing vacation.

Great B&B

We had a really nice time at the Captain’s B&B. We had a warm welcome and the hosts made us fresh homemade breakfast. We did not know up front that we will have a shared bathroom, we are not sure if we missed the information or if it didn‘t say. It was easy to find parking spots on the street. There was no key to lock the door to our room.

My fiance and I booked a last minute getaway to Midland/Penatenguishene and was lucky to have found this charming bed and breakfast hosted by Jeannette and Ross. This turn of the century home is most impressive and the rooms are comfortable and well kept. The art in the rooms and around the home are worth taking time in to soak up!! Their hospitality is absolutely wonderful and we were treated to a wonderful breakfast to start our day on the right foot! The fruit plate was beautifully presented on their lovely china, and the omlette and fresh baked bread were such a treat! We felt very welcomed and will be sure to book again and/or recommend to any friends and viewers alike!

We stayed here 2 nights for our 50th anniversary. Loved that everyone was friendly. Someone mentioned that it was creaky - yep, it was but the house is over 100 years old and had lots of wood. We liked it. Breakfasts were delicious. Ginette shared a recipe with me using rhubarb and I have made it. Loved all the antiques. We were steered in the right direction for dinner which was within a short walking distance from the b and b. Would stay again for sure. Private BR would have been nice but we had no issues.

Perfect little getaway!

We had an amazing stay at the Captain's House. We were treated so well by our hosts and made to feel so welcome and comfortable. The house is absolutely adorable, decorated beautifully. The room we stayed in was super cute. The bed was very comfortable and we slept so well. We were spoiled with amazing breakfast both mornings, and had access to a fridge, microwave and coffee station. We enjoyed getting to know our hosts and appreciated their suggestions on places to visit during our little getaway. Location is great as we were just a 5-10 min walk to downtown Midland and most shops and restaurants of interest to us. We really had a great time and are so grateful to Ginette and Ross. We would love to stay again and see the area in the summer or fall.

Ginette and Ross are very welcoming hosts and the house itself seems to wrap its arms around you. Beautiful garden space with chairs for relaxing, heritage home with their own paintings complementing the antiques and cosy furnishings, very comfortable bed all make The Captain’s House a real find. Elegant dining room for breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola followed by tasty cooked entree. We will return!!

If anyone wants to experience a side of Canada that cannot be found in a corporate hotel or chain motel, a stay at Captain's House Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to begin. Ross and Ginette have created something truly special. From the moment you arrive, you feel less like a customer and more like a welcomed guest in a historic home. The house is over a century old, beautifully maintained, impeccably clean, and filled with character, art, and fascinating details. One of the highlights of our stay was Ginette's breakfast, which was exceptional and easily comparable to meals served in much more expensive establishments. What sets Captain's House apart is its celebration of Canadian heritage and culture. The home is filled with art, including works created by Ross, an accomplished artist whose talent is evident throughout the property. The atmosphere reflects the best of both French and English Canadian traditions: welcoming, creative, conversational, and deeply rooted in place. Despite the many antique furnishings and historical features, the level of cleanliness and care is outstanding. Everything is thoughtfully maintained, allowing guests to enjoy the charm of the past without sacrificing comfort. For those concerned about the shared bathroom, I would simply say that this may not be the right way to think about the experience. Captain's House offers something far rarer than a hotel. The value for money is remarkable, more importantly, this is a place with soul.
