Lipstick on a pig
This hotel was renovated from a budget hotel platform and opened mid-August, about a month before our stay.
Everything was brand new and not in a good way:
- Staff not that well trained and could not find my Hilton Honors number in their system.
- Bar in the dining area only sells wine and beer but is not well stocked.
- The coffee maker could not be plugged in due to the placements of the plugs. Probably from the budget hotel origins.
- The room safe did not work. Probably a leftover from the budget hotel days.
- The air-conditioner was very loud and kept us awake. It drowned out the TV sound. Maybe they used the old ones.
- The new carpet smell in the hallways gave us headaches.
- We specifically requested a king bed, but was given two queen beds. Maybe because the receptionist could not find out HH number.
- There were no Do Not Disturb hangers in the room.
- There were more, but I am running out of characters.
Not up to the Hilton standards we are used to and the hotel's budget roots were very evident, yet we paid Hilton prices - around $400 per night.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.
Our suggestion is to stay away for the time being until they have sorted out what they want to be. There are other options in West Yellowstone.
