The Royal Hotel is perfectly situated near the central train station, markets, and the gardens. This is a beautifully restored, historic and clean hotel. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful. The afternoon fika and morning breakfast are delicious. We had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. The location is great. Walkable to restaurants, boat tours and shopping. The bathroom has been updated and the A/C worked great which was nice on a warm day. Our room was small but it worked out fine. Breakfast was very nice with a lot of variety.

Located close to the rail, bus and tram stations, quietly tucked away on the edge of the shops etc. Cheery reception staff. Compact yet comfortable room. Quiet. Whilst no trans coffee making facilities in the room, they are available beside reception. With cake too from 2pm. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold fare. The hotel is full of character, but has modern charm and focus.

The hotel really met our needs. It's not a plush place, but very comfortable, great staff and tasty breakfasts. There are lots of restaurants within a few hundred meters if you don't want to eat at the hotel itself, which has a good restaurant. Also, it's easy to get into the Gamlastan area in Stockholm using the metro that's nearby.

The quaint hotel served us well. It was centrally located to the city centre and easy walking distance to most sights. Also easy access to a number of restaurants. The breakfast was great with plenty of variety and catering for all needs. Although the room was small it was tastefully decorated and very clean. The free coffee, tea and cake was a nice touch.

Staying at Hotel Royal felt like a privilege. The staff is very proud of their property and they let you know immediately that you are staying in the oldest hotel in Gothenburg, one that has refused to join any commercial chain. It feels like being part of history. The hotel is well maintained and it’s beautiful. Details are very well taken care of even the keychain is very special. You’ll see. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good and the room was nice. Location couldn’t be better. Very close to Central Station and shopping areas and restaurants. Overall it was a great experience. If I ever go back to Gothenburg, I hope I can stay there once again.

This charming hotel is located a very short walk from the central train station and with walking distance to everything in central Gothenburg. The decor in common areas and rooms is so beautiful and brings one back to a bygone era. The breakfast is a delightful and generous buffet. Coffee and tea is always available in the lobby. The staff is very helpful and kind with personal and thoughtful service. I will always stay here when I visit Gothenburg, which is my home town.

Welcoming and traditional hotel, spotlessly clean with very amenable and friendly staff.. Great location, walking distance (approx 300 metres) to Grand Central Train station & Bus terminal, also 7 min walk to Gamla Ullevi sports venues.. Airport bus (every 20 mins during day) runs to and from Bus terminal.. I think it’s an ideal base from which to explore the city via trams which are plentiful and timely, or stroll the nearby shops, cafes and restaurants.. Some nice touches in the hotel which include, a wide open stairwell, tastefully decorated, each room has an actual ‘key’ to bedroom, there’s also free cake & tea/coffee served early pm.. I had a single bedroom, which was adequate in size, bed was comfortable, room was clean, it had tv, shower, washing facilities, though didn’t have in-room tea/coffee facilities.. Space to hang clothes, but no in-room safe.. I didn’t try the breakfast due to my schedule, however, overall the hotel met my needs and I’d jump at the chance to return, should the need to go back to Gothenburg occur..

19/06/26 - 22/06/26 Re: Review of Hotel Royal, Goteborg (by Daniel J McCann and Della McCann) Dearest Staff, Food Service chefs, house-cleaning Staff and Concierge Desk: All amenities were supplied and provided and often more than expected. Concierge service was prompt and was accurately speedy with our checking-in process. They are well-managed professionals who are intrinsically curious, and they maintain a sincere concern for mindfulness when assisting their patrons; They were available throughout the clock for anything requested. Their historical knowledge of Goteborg's locations and districts seemed uncannily hand picked for us by their shear intuition. This factor was a crucial variable that increased our momentum. There is an outdoor courtyard. My thanks for providing traditional professionalism with us which was consistently maintained at the "oldest hotel" in a very intricate and subtle city: the intensely intricate architecture, fenestration, canals, spires, footpaths, and the restaurants that indicate an integrated system of culture and balance was reified by the historical presence of HR. BREAKFAST was a feast of any angle. It is a quiet area of town with close walking distance to the Haga, parks and museums. Yours, with gratitude, Daniel and Della
