This is a charming hotel housed in a 15th century palazzo as close as you can get to the center of Cortona. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Plus you can pull your car up for luggage drop off - a real convenience in a town center where cars are otherwise restricted. Just note this hotel is in an old building. Not all rooms are serviced by elevator - some stairs required. And like any historic property the facilities have charming quirks - rooms but not all public facilities have A/C, lighting is low and there are no amenities on site other than a lovely buffet breakfast you can enjoy inside or in a garden setting. However its location steps from Cortona’s Piazza Republica, restaurants and shops make up for any shortcomings!

The location is fantastic. Just steps from the shopping and restaurants. The hotel is old fashioned and charming. The bathrooms are in need of an upgrade both fixtures and lighting. But it’s quirky ways also are the very thing that makes it charming. I would ask for a room furthest away from Via Nationale as that street can be loud at night. They have a nice breakfast each morning w an option to eat in the outdoor courtyard. Their sweet staff will bring you speciality coffees to enjoy!

What a magical hotel and it felt like we stepped back in time. Sadly we only spent one night and it was so comfortable. Great breakfast buffet and service was so friendly. Front desk was so helpful with our car parking. Drove up to the front door and a valet drove it to a parking spot. Easy walk to every thing in Cortona. Restaurants and shopping in less than 30 seconds from front door. Room was so comfortable. Room did not have a tea kettle but the cappuccino at breakfast was delicious Great place to stay and would love to visit again

This hotel was beauiful. Our room was exactly as pictured. It was spacious and comfortable. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful. The location was just a short walk from the piazza. In addition, the breakfast buffet was really nice - a lot of options and everything was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel.

Fabulous hotel, in a wonderful location with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed several times at Hotel San Michele and it is consistently clean, quiet, great value with amazing staff. Their family rooms are brilliant with two separate spaces (and air con!) and breakfast is superb with excellent choices. We will be back!
