This is great hotel, either as a stopover before you get a ferry from Bilbao Port (5 minutes drive) or spending a couple of days visiting Bilbao city as transport into the cityis very accessible. Rooms are quiet, air-conditioned (but could have been more efficient) and have tea/coffee makong facility and a fridge. There is an underground carpark for a small additional fee, which keeps motorcycles safe. We have stayed here twice, both occasions there were wedding events, but still we had a quiet night. The restaurant is okay, especially if you don't want to explore Santurtzi. Lovely friendly waiting staff who knew how to make a good cocktail. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Breakfast was nice. Room was adequate. Staff were nice too. Excellent location for ferry. I asked for a low floor as I cannot use an elevator but I can cope with 1 or 2 flights of stairs, however I didn’t realise low floors were in the basement so i had the lowest floor and many stairs to walk down and up again for restaurant/breakfast/ bar/ parking etc. my fault though, not the hotels. Would stay again.

What a good hotel! I don't understand how this hotel is not with a better grade, it's really lovely! I'm a very picky person and I was amazed by my stay. The room was in front of the gate and the sound is absolutely low, there's no train during the night. The bed is comfortable and clean. The baby crib was in wood super good quality, able to move around the room (it's a really crib! Not a foldable one). Breakfasts is really continental, and the view of the restaurant is just amazing!

Booked a basic room, which is ok for our night stop over. Always clean and very comfortable, with great views over the estuary. We have used this hotel twice a year for several years with no complaints. On our last trip we found slight damp in the corners of the wall behind the large window curtains. We were immediately upgraded to a better room. No fuss. No blame. ( first time ever we have found a fault). All the staff (including cleaners) have always been Polite. Friendly and very professional every time we have stayed at the hotel. Evening meals are well prepared and very tasty. Well presented and hot. Our waiter was fantastic. Chatty and could not do enough to make our meal time memorable. Breakfast buffet is very well presented, both for continental style meals and English breakfast and there is lots of it. We have the same staff member (when we visit twice a year), who puts in a lot of effort to make sure we enjoy our meals there. What is also good is that the hotel is on the estuary with great views, and is literally a very easy 5 minutes drive to the main port. well worth a visit.

Beautiful building.

This hotel was recommended to us as a luxury hotel. The Hotel sits in a great position within Bilbao & has great views. A quick & easy drive to the ferry port. We were disappointed to find that although the hotel is a beautiful building the interior is very modern. Bedroom comfortable. Restaurant very stark especially when eating alone. Food enjoyable.

The location of this hotel is very good and convenient for getting around the city. However, the room was a bit small. My main concern was the air conditioning. During our stay, the weather was very hot, but the air conditioning in our room was very weak and did not cool the room properly. We reported this to the reception, but were told that the system was less effective because many guests were using it at the same time. Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved, and we felt quite uncomfortable during the nights because of the heat. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was because I expected reliable air conditioning, so this was particularly disappointing. Considering the price we paid, I expected a more comfortable experience. In addition, the hair dryer provided in the room was not clean. While the location is a strong point, the poor air conditioning significantly affected our stay.

Hotel was large, clean and comfortable. Reception was efficient. Car park good but spaces quite small. Room was adequate but nothing special. Breakfast good. Biggest problem was the restaurant was shut for dinner and we were told the nearest restaurant was about 800 metres away. There was a shelf of snack meal for sale at very high prices.

I cannot recommend

Most of the rooms are not in the beautiful, historic building you see on the photos, but rather on a huge underground extension they built underneath. Because of the sloped terrain, rooms face the back of the building and don't seem apparent when looking at the original palace building. These rooms are below-grade and face busy train tracks, and they are quite close to them. The noise and, often, the vibration of trains passing by made our stay very unpleasant, it really was hard to get a good sleep. Rooms also feel tired and outdated, but they are otherwise spacious and comfortable. The grounds and surroundings are nice. Very limited parking within the hotel, but we found plenty of space in the hospital's parking lot across the street. I do not recommend the restaurant at the back of this hotel, despite the views and outdoor patio.

Not 4 star quality.

This is an architecturally lovely building and because of its age and situation, is not planned out in a conventional way. It is conveniently located within 10 minutes walk of Santurtzi where there are many restaurants and a short 6 - 7 minutes drive (5.6km) to Bilbao Ferry Terminal. The hotel provides shower and hand gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Rooms have air-conditioning. While the shower was over the bath, it was excellent but the screen allowed water onto the floor. The hairdryer needed replaced as it kept overheating and cutting out; an ongoing issue judging by the plastic deformation. During the day, the bar was on the terrace overlooking the bay, the marina and was very pleasant. The car park was underground and available with reservation costing two motorcycles €15 per night. We chose not to eat in either the restaurant or the cafeteria and sampled local fare instead. The lower level second floor smelt a bit damp and fusty, as did our room; as if nobody had been in it for a few days. The hotel hosts functions such as weddings. While any noise is curfewed at mid-night, if you need to sleep before that, it may be difficult especially if your room is located on the 2nd / 3rd floors. I make a plea not to let this place run down any more; the place is tired, needs decorated and management need to make checks on thorough cleaning of rooms and public areas. In my opinion it isnot 4 star quality.

Worst hotel ever. They’re very unhelpful and room is where slaves used to live in…. I would not stay here ever again specially if you’re an American be careful when traveling to Spain
