This is a fantastic hotel! It's on the south side of Nairobi, reasonably close to the airport. But, it's right up against the National Park; there are restaurants and bars on the third and tenth floor that overlook the park, and you can eat or drink and watch the occasional zebra and rhino and giraffe wander by! Bring binoculars! But even beyond that, the food is excellent, the rooms are clean and large, and the staff is overwhelmingly friendly, from the bell hop to the restaurant staff to the front desk. Would definitely stay here if I'm in Nairobi again.

The hotel is clean and nice, but there is room for improvement. The café in the reception area makes a fantastic espresso. However, in the restaurant where breakfast is served, the espresso is not even drinkable. It tastes like dish soap, and when you order coffee or tea with breakfast, it can sometimes take 30 minutes. I’m not sure I would stay here again.

The swimming pool is very small. Rooms are very noisy but the ones on the National Park are a bit better. During 2 days, the rooftop and pool were privatised for a noisy party night and day. This was awful! On the bright side, the restaurant is good. Room-service is very limited and not the best dishes on the menu so don't use it and go to the restaurant, you will be surprised. The gift shop is a fraud. Some items have tagged prices, for the others you need to ask the shop attendant. I went first with my colleagues and my colleague bought bracelets at a certain price. I went back the next day alone and the price had tripled!!!

As frequent travellers, this sadly will be my first bad review. The hotel itself and the staff were great! Very friendly and helpful. Part of the reason for booking was the amazing rooftop pool and view! We were, however, extremely disappointed to find out there was an event going on which made the rooftop unusable! We attempted to use it and it was incredibly uncomfortable due to the young party crowd it drew in. We are up for a good time but we weren't made aware of the event that was open to the public and not hotel guests! We had to ask for a different room due to the excessive noise and vibration that shook the room. They were kind enough to give us a room in the older side hotel which was a big downgrade from what we had booked and there was no offer of compensation of any kind! There are many other options much cheaper in the area. We did NOT get what we paid for!

I really enjoy my stays at Emara Ole sereni. Everyone there is so friendly and the rooms are well kept, and I really enjoyed having a balcony this time. I can mention a few people who helped make my stay great: Peter Erick at security, Samuel, Lucy, Alex from the front desk, Brian, and Eunice from the shops, and there are so many more people at the hotel I cannot name. This is the only hotel that I stay at when I am in Nairobi.

Fantastic modern and spacious room with a splendid view of the national park. Appreciated the balcony although it was a little cold at times still in March. Staff were fantastic across the hotel, always eager to help and check if we needed anything. Highly recommend. Breakfast offerings and view (again of the park) was great, as well as the rooftop bar on the 10th floor. The swimming pool is super aesthetic but not huge - more for lounging and paddling. The mojitos are strong! I stayed in the Ole-Sereni (the original, sister hotel) prior to my stay at Emara - whilst it felt more understated and more African, with closer access to the spa and gym, I would choose the Emara for its views, more modern rooms and slightly better breakfast offerings.

Right from the beginning the staff was very welcoming. Hussein quickly took us up to our room after a long day of traveling and explained everything well inside of our room which had an outstanding view of the park. Peter, who isn’t even a direct employee of the resort, who is part of the security team that keeps everyone safe, always checked on us and gave us a friendly greeting when he seen us. He even helped when excursions were late and helped to translate to get the issues with the vendors that we hired. The restaurants and bars were very nice and the food was great. A couple nights we could hear the music from the Sky Lounge when going to bed but it wasn't a deal breaker.
