I chose the InterContinental Cleveland because of its direct connection to Cleveland Clinic while accompanying my daughter for medical appointments. I was happy to pay a premium for convenience during a stressful medical trip, but unfortunately the hotel did not meet expectations.
After extending our stay to four nights and spending close to $3,000 on accommodations, I found the property noticeably worn and dated. The carpeting feels old, the linens and towels are of surprisingly poor quality, and the pillows had an unpleasant aged smell.
The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but I was surprised by the lack of healthier options. Given that this hotel primarily serves patients and families visiting a world-renowned medical institution, I expected a greater emphasis on fresh fruit, nutritious choices, and lighter fare rather than predominantly fried and heavy breakfast items.
The most frustrating experience occurred when we returned to our room around 8:00 p.m. after a full day of appointments at Cleveland Clinic and discovered that housekeeping had not serviced the room at all. The beds were unmade, trash bins were full, and used towels had not been replaced.
The hotel’s location is exceptional and extremely convenient for Cleveland Clinic patients. Unfortunately, the accommodations and service did not reflect the premium rates being charged.
