This is a newly renovated hotel that we understnd reopened in Mar 26.
Hence all the Hotels.com poor reviews (rating less than 8) prior to that date are absolutely irrelevant.
We wish that Hotels.com would remove these reviews as we almost did not book the hotel based on the said reviews. We went to a competitor's site which had more recent reviews before proceeding with our review.
The hotel rooms were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and super helpful when we found out that the 'advertised' pool on the Hotels.com website had yet to be comissionned! Our interaction with Hotels.com was not conclusive as they try to absolve themselves of any blame for allowing the hotel to show within the 'swimmimng pool filter and expected us to read the fine print to find out that the pool was indeed not available during our stay. Of course Hotels.com did not consider that as 'false' advertising of a swimming pool that in reality was not available and the hotel should not have been captured in our 'swimmimg pool' availibitity criteria.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel which was at the northern end of Beijing Rd and would stay there again, pool or no pool, if we visit Guanzhou in the future.
