Well worth it. My wife and I stopped here on the way to Bar Harbor, ME to break up our trip and I was very pleased. We arrived around 12pm and the staff was able to accommodate early check-in which was awesome. The hotel is beautiful and very clean, I would highly recommend to anyone planning on visiting Portsmouth or just passing through.

Did Not Live Up To Expectations

My room was on the bottom floor across from two ballrooms and directly next to another ballroom. The room next door had an event in Monday morning. Strange setup. Room service was also an hour wait in the morning on 2/20. Bed was moderately comfortable, overall the look and amenities of the hotel do not justify the price tag.

The staff, all, were fabulous. The property esdpecially at night with all the holiday lights was absolutely beautiful. However, the HVAC system was extremely loud when turning on and off. We asked for a quieter room which they did without question (great staff). However, when we returned in the evening after a long day of experiencing Portsmouth's shops we came back to a room that the beds were not made and the bathroom still with wet towels on the floor. Staff appologized howeverI would not choose to return.

2/10 Poor

WHEN THE FIRE ALARM GOES OFF AT FOUR IN THE MORNING AND THERE'S NO STAFF AROUND, NO EXPLANATION DURING THE EVENT, AFTER THE EVENT OR APOLOGY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OF BEING SENT OUTSIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, MARRIOTT HAS FAILED MISERABLY. THIS IS NOT THE MARRIOTT I HAVE KNOWN

Not happy with Salt Restaurant

everything was very good, except for the Salt Restaurant. To start with, the table was not set right, no napkins and the utensils were scattered. The menu selections for dinner were few and not very appealing. I had Pork Shank only because nothing else appealed and I only ate maybe 1/10 of the bowl. There was way to much pasta and the sauce was not to taste. I would go back, because it is nice, but I would not eat at the Salt Restaurant for anything but breakfast, it was OK.

iffy

We paid extra for the ocean view and got the nice room. However, the shade was broken on hte only window and so we had NO view for the morning sunrise or anything until lunch time. Also it was school vacation week and (our mistake) the screaming kids running around the hall and slamming doors from 9:30p to midnight was not enjoyable. I finally yelled at the kids and said I was calling security. I guess the parents must have been having a great time in the bar downstairs as they were nowhere in sight.

Stunningly beautiful Hotel

This Hotel is absolutely stunning filled with class and history. The Check in with Ethan was above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our room and overall stay and experience. Max the manager was also extremely helpful and accommodating. We were staying at this hotel for our son's wedding and wanted everything to be perfect! Mary waited on us at the hotel offering us snacks and we were so pleasantly surprised as she had also performed the marriage of our son. I cannot say enough good things. They made sure our expectations were met and we were so grateful. I would not recommend room service as the food was cold once it came but the food and atmosphere in the restaurants on site were also delicious. The maids were very friendly, but they did not change bedding or vacuum daily unless asked. otherwise, the maid service was standard. We would definitely stay here again in fact we look forward to it and will most certainly recommend it to family and friends.

Only 1 restaurant open, no amenities.Bring snacks.

I would never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone. We booked this hotel so we could have a choice of restaurants and would not need to leave the hotel. When we got there, only one restaurant was open, with an extremely limited menu. The next morning we went in search of the gift shop to get some snacks so we could at least hang out in the room, but the gift shop was closed. I then went hunting for a vending machine, but they didn't even have that. I called the front desk, and the person I spoke to suggested I walk to the gas station down the road - it's 4 miles from the hotel. I mentioned that I was under the impression there were 4 restaurants and 3 bars/lounges (from the hotels.com listing), and he responds by saying "I don't know where you got that idea." Later in the day, we called for room service. At first, the woman was very nice, so nice that I commented to my partner when I got off the phone that she was nicer than the guy I spoke to earlier. 20 minutes later, she called back and accused me of giving her the wrong room number, which I didn't. She claimed that I gave her a room number that didn't exist, and when I repeated my room number, she said, "whatever," and hung up. At this point, I was mad. We paid for a resort but barely got a motel. At least put a mini bar in the rooms (the Marriott Bonvoy app claims they exist, but like everything else they don't).

This hotel used to be the gem of the Seacoast with 4 star service…it’s no longer that way! They’re understaffed but still trying to make it happen, all the while sacrificing all service. The restaurant staff is a skeleton staff at best, the food was sub-par and came out in shifts so everything was cold when it finally arrived, IF it arrived at all! You can’t get any spa services bc they’re so short staffed and won’t let you use the sauna if you didn’t have a spa service, which you could not get bc they didn’t have enough help. Our room was 66 degrees F even though we turned it up to 73. It was 26 degrees F outside and our room maxed out at 66, but the fan blowing sounded like a jet all night so we got zero sleep. The kids working the front desk in lobby wouldn’t have been older than 18 and just don’t have the ability to service customers the way a high end (alleged) hotel should. I’ll never go back again; I’m a local to the area and tried to have a nice night away and it was a nightmare.
