The staff were excellent, the accommodation clean, the gym was very good. The pool was quiet magnificent.
When we arrived we were concerned that it wasn't possible to easily walk to Monteriggioni. However the receptionist was able to provide a walk that avoided the awful road.
The room was very dated. Dark & somber. Breakfast was a very Italian! (Very questionable quality)
In the evening the restaurant music was irritating as it reverberated in our room until late. I had to ask for it to be stopped - especially as there wasn't anyone listening to it!
As a non smoker I was initially pleased that smoking wasn't permitted, but as with all things Italian, this wasn't actually true.
People were smoking by the pool and on the communal terraces.
And, finally, we ended up with our room in the middle of a family who needed two rooms. The family from hell. The children screaming, swearing, spitting food on the floor, throwing clothing & shoes from the pool. We had to complain to reception. This did calm the family from hell a little. However this completely ruined our stay. We found ourselves having to go out to avoid this awful family.
So what was supposed to be a special stay turned out to be a huge disappointment.
