I had a very good stay at The People Nation and would rate my experience 4 out of 5.
**Location:** Excellent! Right in front of the metro at Place de la Nation, with a supermarket next door. Very convenient for exploring Paris, and reasonably priced overall.
**Staff:** Outstanding! Special thanks to Matthieu, who was exceptionally attentive, welcoming and helpful. He remembered my name and greeted me personally whenever I walked by. This personalised service made me feel genuinely welcome and made a real difference to my experience.
**Cleanliness:** The main area for improvement. The dorm room floor needed more frequent vacuuming, as there was noticeable sand, hair and dirt, and the bin was sometimes overflowing. The shared bathrooms and sinks were also not always clean, even at different times of the day. On one occasion, I had to clean the bathroom floor myself before taking a shower. I understand that guests share responsibility for keeping common areas tidy, but more frequent cleaning checks would make a big difference. I also noticed cobwebs around the ceiling lights and corners in the café, suggesting that some details need more attention.
**Bar:** Good service and atmosphere, and an amazing view, but €9.50 for a latte macchiato with plant-based milk felt excessive.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. With more consistent cleaning and attention to detail, this hostel could easily deserve 5 stars. Matthieu's excellent service was definitely a highlight!
