First, let me say that the location of this hotel is PERFECT. Thank you for bringing a hotel to midtown, it was much needed. I also love the style of this hotel, but details in the room were just off. I found a few different places where the room hadn't been cleaned or items weren't removed from the prior guest. No bottled water, but bottles provided for tap water from bathroom sink - this is okay because of good Memphis water but still a bit of a yuck factor.
Big issue for me was the LOUD street in front of my room even though I was several floors up. Is there zero sound proofing? I didn't get to sleep much at all but I'm a good sleeper. As the whole point of my stay here, I was very unhappy about that. I am a native Memphian and had no idea Memphis was so loud, despite living in midtown most of my adult life.
I also wanted to point out that the credit card machine wasn't working properly because of an outage and the front desk people acted like it was my cards. The next morning the lady said "yeah, it was the power" so there was definitely a lack of communication within the hotel also.
Look, I love Memphis. I was born at Baptist East. If we want Memphis to do better, we have to be better. I wanted to leave an all-fluff review, but doing that wouldn't allow y'all to fix what's wrong.
I will say that I will likely stay in the Hilton near Target next time I come with my husband but would consider staying here again, though it wouldn't be my first choice.
