We stayed for a couple nights while leaf-peeping in Estes Park. First, the good stuff. The lobby was certainly built to impress, with a huge 20 x 40 foot fireplace and big log construction. We stayed in the lodge. The rooms were adequate size, mattress was decent, and all was clean. I definitely recommend getting a room with a Long's Peak view, It was the best view of Long's Peak we've ever had (see photo), and we have stayed in Estes a lot. We had trouble opening the door to the outside deck - called down to the front desk and they were prompt and friendly taking care of it. The morning breakfast was coffee (which was fine) and grocery store muffins cut in half. Hot water was available and spring water for your water bottle. That's it. The property has lots of cabins which are pretty old looking. The dining hall/lounge was closed - it looked like permanently. Now the not so good - they advertise disconnecting to relax, and you must disconnect because the WiFi was so bad you could not even text message with it. Forget about an Internet web page with pictures on it. So if that's what you're expecting that's fine, but just know you won't be online there.

We were visiting our daughter who was working at a camp down the road, and landed at the Dao House. We stayed in the lodge, which was beautiful. Our room had a door to a shared balcony and hummingbirds were everywhere. We had 2 queen beds for my family, and the room arrangement worked really well for the four of us (2 teens). Everything was very clean and the staff was beyond helpful. We went horseback riding at Elkhorn stables on the property, which made for a great afternoon. My hubby and kids enjoyed tennis and basketball on site, and we took advantage of the books and games down the hall. Although they don't really offer breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised to find they had muffins along with the tea and coffee. We had stopped by Safeway in Estes Park for milk, cereal, oatmeal, etc. We were able to keep perishables in the community mini fridge and heat what we needed in the microwave. Some of the cabins looked like they could use a fresh coat of paint, but the property was beautiful and relaxing and a wonderful get away. We would stay there again.

The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. However, the parking area was pretty chewed up and if they put on the website that there was no TV we didn’t see it. The Wi-Fi did not support streaming and cut in and out. We OKgot no housekeeping on our two days stay. We also had a balcony, but the lock would not open. We also did not pursue this so part of that’s on us. On the upside, the bed was clean and comfortable & the bathroom was small, but lovely. Reasonably accessible to Rocky Mountain national Park.

The view of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park is spectacular! The lodge is old and gorgeous! No frills but very comfy. The staff were so nice and helpful! Having horseback riding right there is ultra convenient. We will stay there again!
