Nice hotel with friendly staff, good parking and a pleasant reception area. Bowling was great fun and reasonably priced, and the lounge bar was a lovely relaxed space. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and a beautiful view over the lake and golf course.
However, communication around the spa was disappointing. It wasn’t clear at booking that the spa was an additional cost, operated on 2-hour slots only, or that robe hire was an extra £5 per person. I’d emailed in advance to book the spa but was advised to arrange it on arrival, which was difficult as it was Valentine’s weekend. Despite being advertised as having a hot tub, there wasn’t one, and the spa itself was quite small.
There were no room service menus in the room and the menu found online was outdated. Our suite was clean but dated with a car park view, and one side of the bed had no plug socket. Dinner was excellent despite limited menu choices. Our key card also stopped working before the 11am checkout time.
Overall, a pleasant stay with some great highlights, but clearer information and communication would make a big difference
