Would stay again. Basic, but good

Staff very friendly, parking reasonable. Great location for O2. Basic room and breakfast, but served us well for the night. Would stay again.

Great budget stay

Nice comfy rooms. Very friendly check in staff and breakfast was great. Rooms a little noisy (no double glazing) being a Saturday night a number of other guests were getting in quite late (after 3am)

More Birmingham Alabama than West Midlands

A motel that could have been from 60s middle America. The rooms were 'fine'. All a bit run down on the outside but comfortable enough to stay.

Well done Ibis

Friendly and cheerful staff, good coffee at a good price (£1.50) at reception (better than the instant in the room), liked that the bar is 24 hours, limited (to be expected) range of food with a “takeaway” option (the pizza was decent), was able to park right by my room rather like a US motel, good value for a room which was warm and clean. It’s not flashy or “style-based” (go to the Pentahotel for that), but for a budget room in a location that really suited me, I found it hard to fault and would happily stay here again. I was pleasantly surprised at my stay and they exceeded my expectations.

Great place

Great place to stay not far from the Chinese quarter of Birmingham. The room was brilliant not like a hotel from the outside more like a shallet, spacious room with all you needed. Breakfast was £9.99 per booked or £13.95 on the day, was cooked food and cereals toast etc. The room was poor for the noise from the road seemed it was boy racer night! We were the road side and close to the gate opening for the car park, we didn’t use the car park but it was reasonable priced and secure. We asked for an extra towel and reception was happy to give us another. Would stay again.

4/10 Fair

Very disappointed with the hotel. The images on line don't do justice! It is like in a cabin in the middle of the city. First impression as you approach the hotel is like a prison with bars everywhere!! This walls and windows dont stop the noise from outside. Only saving grace is it is very close to the Edgbaston stadium and very convenient for parking your car for the match
Shankar, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Very thin top mattresses that weren't big enough for the beds. Price hike for the Commonwealth Games period was extortionate, the rooms were very basic and need modernisation. Charging twice the usual rate for such a poor room was just greedy.
Gillian, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Stay clear. The photos are misleading.

I was very disappointed when I artived. The room was absolutely filthy. Although the sheets appear clean the bed was filthy covered in skin cells, and thick dust on the bed board. Seriously contemplated booking another hotel. Was very reluctant to get into bed. The aged filthy mattress was covered with a mattress topper to conceal what layed beneath. Don't be fooled by the photos. Cobwebs everywhere. The room needs a deep clean. Don't appear to have ever hovered under the bed. Unless you are desperate find someone else to stay.

Stay from Hell

Stay from hell. Flooded room and acusd of theft by staff without any evidence. Staff member searching for a scape goat and ended up getting arrested put into custody for 6 hours. Room, and all my belongings including my car all searched nothing wa found. Police investigation concluded no further action to this bogus claim of theft. Prior to this accusation staff were constantly knocking on my door not giving me any peace at all! My whole purpose of my stay was to sleep I got absolutely none. I am absolutely disgusted with all staff here and how badly iv been treated. I have I'm left traumatised and scarred for life. Stay away from this place

Great stopover

Great hotel with parking at a reduced rate for guests. Staff were friendly and visible unlike some places where you can’t find anyone! The room was clean and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom looked pretty recent with large walk-in shower. The only point to note is the style is ‘American motel’ with open walkways on two floors, not attached to the main reception, so if you feel you might be vulnerable then it’s not a place for you. Perfect position for gigs and train station as new street is a 5-8 min walk.
Sas, 1-night trip

Catfish room

The rooms did not look like pictures online. The room smelt like cigarettes and smoke and it the air was congested. Even with the windows open, the room still felt stuffy. The walls were textured and the room felt outdated with low lighting. Our impression was that the hotel room would be in a singular building how ever it was apartment style
Mtisunge, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Room was fine, though shower wasn't great and no plug in the basin.
Ronan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Motel style property 10 min walk from the Mailbox. Not in the nicest part of Birmingham but reasonably priced.
Richard, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Okay budget hotel but noisy in the early hours

Great location for city centre and 30 seconds walk from O2 Academy. Whilst not the hotel’s fault, the nature of the hotel’s design allows for a lot of noise outside of rooms in the early hours - as we experienced. But that’s part of the price you pay for choosing a budget hotel near the likes of Broad Street - so ideal choice for stag/hen parties. Staff friendly and helpful which is a bonus

Disappointing

Disappointing, broken glass pieces on the floor, no hand towels, shower was terrible, only Luke warm water and hardly any flow. Breakfast was dreadful, over cooked hard and dry. Minimal choice. Staff were welcoming and friendly
Sheilagh, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Hotel staff were helpful and friendly, room was clean and tidy outside the hotel looks rundown and falling apart, had trouble all stay with the key entry to the room needs addressing had to get staff a couple of times to come and help
Kerry, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Terrible. I know this is a low star hotel but damp, cold rooms are not nice. The hotel is set up like a small motel with separate building, quite odd. Very loud guests and little to no soundproofing in the rooms makes any kind of sleep impossible. The guests next door to us played loud music from midnight to 06.30am, the telephone in the room to contact reception wasn’t connected, they wouldn’t answer from the main number by using our mobile phone so we had to get dressed and walk to reception to complain. All in all, I’d highly recommend you seek alternative accommodation for your stay in Birmingham as this hotel barely deserves the 2 star rating.
Ryan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

This hotel is very much ideal for a cheap stay in Birmingham city centre. The rooms are very nicely presented and have all you need. My only gripe is the really modern heaters with the most complicated digital user manual.
1-night trip

6/10 Good

Not very good value for money. Paper cups for tea/coffee not overly pleasant. Nothing special about any of it at all really, just convenient location for our needs.
