The location does most of the work here, and it does it well. Two minutes from the Two Oceans Aquarium, walking distance to every restaurant and shop the Waterfront has to offer, and the higher rooms give you real views over the harbour toward Table Mountain and Robben Island. The nautical theme is tasteful rather than themed restaurant tacky, and the staff were consistently helpful without hovering. Pool was out of service for renovations, Rooms are comfortable and well equipped (AC, safe, good WiFi) rather than particularly characterful this is a hotel built for people who are out exploring all day, not lounging in the room, which suited my trip. Solid four star base for a Cape Town stay. Would go back. Only Warning if you see a boiled egg in curry, One bite of a boiled egg served in a curry dish set off what's now been three days of GI symptoms that show no sign of quitting. If you're traveling and a curry arrives with boiled egg mixed in, and anything about it seems off smell, texture, how long it's plausibly been sitting skip it. Doesn't take much: a single bite was enough here. Still tastes it a few times a day.
