Lovely location near Hexham with stately home vibes and comfortable bedrooms. The bar overlooks the golf course and has lots of nooks and crannies to settle in with a glass of whatever to people watch. The restaurant has a very good menu and the staff are attentive and make sure all is OK with your meal. Breakfast is self serve with full platters of tasty food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Most of the staff were lovely. Arrived to a cracked bathroom sink. Air con failed the first night in very high temperatures. Reported it the next morning and we were moved. Breakfast good but understaffed and most things were empty at peak time so you had to wait for the poor staff to keep up.

Warm welcome on check in, in fact all staff we encountered on our stay were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice, the water was a bit cold for me but the rest of our party were fine. The breakfast was lovely, a good choice and very tasty. The room was good, to be honest it was purely a base so not too fussed about it, but it was clean and the beds were comfy. Would definitely recommend and will return

My being black, I was left standing at the bar for 20 mins when wanting to order despite being ahead of other people in the bar queue and it was only when my white partner turned up, was I served. A prejucial silent welcome for sure. We landed after 7pm and it appeared too much effort to sort some food at the bar. Ordered buffalo chicken wings, I think they hatched the egg, grew the chicken before killing and cooking it, it took so long for my bar snack to arrive. Glass shards in the bedroom carpet, mould in the shower, sink cracked, toilet not flushing, scaffolding outside the windows. Worst tasting scallops I've ever experienced. Asked for orange juice at breakfast as dispenser was empty only for waitress to consent to get more but never delivered. This was my second and final stay here and is for sure my last. One positive was the lovely housekeeping lady, who stood out from all other staff I had dealings with, mainly as she spoke to me as a person rather than blatantly blanking and ignoring me.
