This hotel has always been our "go-to" for the last decade when visiting Portland, but sadly, it's not what it used to be. The morning woman at the front desk was pleasant enough, but others didn't bother to look up at us. I remember years ago being greeted every time we walked in.
In our room, the bed was HORRIBLE. It made all kinds of metal squeaking noises every time I moved. The mattress felt thin and old, the pillows had no substance & even 3 stacked up barely felt like one pillow. I woke up with backaches. Our room was stuffy despite the turning on the air which kept cycling off after only minutes. Finally, in the middle of the night, I turned the air down as far as I could (from 69*) to try and get it to stay on! Breakfast both days was dismal. The hot items were exactly the same 2 days in a row, no fruit, there were only a few yogurts in the fridge (no hard boiled eggs like other locations), and a couple muffins/pastries. The attendant had a bluetooth earbud and didn't even look up when we asked if more eggs were available. She just said "in a few minutes" with no eye contact and sounded irritated. We felt like we were scrounging for anything to eat (30 min. before closing). All the tables had crumbs, too. When we came back to our room after breakfast, our room card wouldn't work. The toilet clogged TWICE on us. The wallpaper above the shower was peeling and had rusty color drip. After a dozen stays here over the years, I think we will consider elsewhere now.
